Review: I didn't know it's battery-powered! - I already had another digital microscope, also with a 10" screen, that I used for PCB inspection. And it was decent, but I found myself wanting one feature that it didn't have: auto-focus. Sometimes, I would have to tilt a PCB at odd angles to see the pins under connectors or ICs, so I was constantly re-focusing the camera. Not a big deal. It also had a small plate, so I was constantly bumping into the post at the rear of the stand, or I'd have to re-orient the PCB so I could fit the area of interest under the camera. And a few other minor annoyances... Then I bought this one -- mainly for the much larger plate and flexible arm, but also, of course, for its auto-focus feature. And these features work great! I found that the auto-focus can be slightly annoying at times, because it can sometimes trigger itself unnecessarily, and once in a while it takes more than a few seconds to finish. However, I discovered that when you put it in manual-focus mode, you can press the auto-focus button to make it re-focus, then it reverts back to manual focus. Perfect! Even though this sounds like it's nearly the same experience as with my previous manual focus model, pressing the button is a lot easier than constantly twisting the aperture. The ring light is excellent. My previous digital microscope had a pair of those little gooseneck LEDs, which put out a decent amount of light, but the goosenecks themselves were a tad short, so it was difficult to get them pointed right where you needed them, and I was constantly fighting shadows. But with this TOMLOV one having the ring light, that problem is solved -- I've got far more coverage than I had with my previous model and hardly any shadows. In fact, the ring light is almost too bright -- I've found that I use it at about the 25% intensity setting, which looks quite dim off-camera, but the picture is plenty bright. Speaking of picture: I did play around with the picture settings a bit. The default settings are fine and produce a clear, colorful image. But I managed to tweak things a bit and now the picture is stunning in its detail, sharpness, and definition. The 4K display (and camera) really makes a marked difference over the 1080p models. The flex arm is a nice feature and works well enough. The only flaw here is that there is a bit of slack in the hinge points, so it can't hold the camera in a perfectly vertical orientation (there's a slight forward lean). But it's not really a problem. But there's a bonus: did you know it's battery powered? I didn't! I'm pretty good about reading descriptions thoroughly before purchasing, so I'm not sure how I missed it. I discovered this when I un-plugged the microscope from the outlet to put it away, and saw that the display was still on. I thought it was odd that it took so long for it to run out of power, and after waiting another moment, I finally noticed the battery icon in the lower-left of the display. Hot dog! Battery power isn't a feature I need, but it could come in handy sometime, so I'm delighted. Overall, it's a good system. There are some elements of the camera, the stand, the attachment of the ring light, and other aspects that come off as "cheap." But that's to be expected for a tool at this price point. It's a relatively higher price than similar digital microscopes, but the 4K display+camera and the large base plate make it worth it.
Review: Excellent microscope! - I bought this for watchmaking. I’ve only used it for a couple hours and wow is this thing amazing! The screen size is awesome and the image quality is excellent. Very easy to record video and take photos. Setup took about 5 minutes and was simple. The working distance between the lens and the tabletop is more than enough to get your hands and tools under it. The ring light it comes with lights things so well I took away my desk lamp altogether. The autofocus is accurate and fast enough. The digital zoom is also helpful if you don’t want to adjust the unit vertically. Overall, I would highly recommend this, in particular for watchmaking.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Impressed with customer service, but underwhelmed for the price.
*by E***. on February 21, 2026*

UPDATE: I am adding an additional star to my rating for outstanding customer service. First the good: The build quality and materials are pretty solid. It's freestanding so it comes with it's own base/workspace which is nice and large and provides stability for the rest of the components. The arm is strong and metal and can be adjusted in almost any direction easily. The monitor is really nice and crisp even at 1080p. The autofocus is super responsive and accurate. There are a bunch of settings to adjust in the menu, which is also very intuitive and easy to navigate. Lastly, you have several options for display output to suit many different use cases. The annoying: The default magnification is too much. You can only view a very small section of the work surface at a time. There's an option to change the mounting height of the scope to allow for more field of view, but the monitor is physically attached to the scope so it also changes position moving out of comfortable viewing height. Ideally they should be separate units connected by a cable so you can keep the monitor in a stationary position while being able to adjust the height of the scope. Another consequence of the poor design is that the monitor cannot be adjusted to point downward. When mounted at the top of the scope, the ring of the arm prevents it from even facing completely straight on, it points slightly upwards. When mounted to the bottom of the scope, there's a bit more range where it can point straight on, but still not downward. Unfortunately, the bottom mounting position also comes at a cost at not being able to mount the included ring light, which is it's own frustration. Instead of being integrated into the scope, the ring light is it's own separate unit with it's own power cable and plug. So you need two outlets. It feels like a bit of an afterthought in terms of quality and materials compared to the rest of the components. It mounts using three pressure screws which are not stable when trying to mount them in their intended position (at the bottom of the scope) because the scope is slightly tapered and it slides and pops right off. So you need to mount it a bit higher above the red mounting line which then partially obscures one of the focus buttons on the scope. Even when mounted at this higher position, it is not particularly stable and can be easily knocked out of place. There is no cable management for either the ring light nor the scope cord, so it's a bit unruly. I feel like they could have made it so you could feed the cables down the arm and out the bottom of the base, but I guess that was a missed opportunity. Lastly, my remote control did not function out of the box. The battery was good, but the contacts inside the compartment were somehow bent and needed to be adjusted for it to work. All in all this a good product, but fails to deliver in several areas that I would expect better for the price point.
