No toxic chemical is my No1 reason for using it. *by on Reviewed in the United States November 28, 2023* **update after 1 year of use** : my dog attracted Lyme disease. I regret using natural product like this one. 1. you need to spray your dog with it every time they go out. 2. it does not kill ticks so any attachment of ticks that last more than 24 hours will expose your dog to Lyme. I no longer use this product and use Advantix II instead. It is no joke getting Lyme disease, my dog was sore at all joints and couldn't even walk. It was sad to see. Thank God Doxycycline works for my dog, but she continues to test positive for Lyme even she does not show any symptoms. Lyme bacteria is very hard to kill entirely. So whenever your dog is sick and immune system is down, the Lyme can make a come back.Again, don't buy this product and think you can get rid of ticks. It is useless against ticks.I really hate the smell - it is very strong when first applied, and it lingers for hours. I believe my dog hates it more as their noses are more sensitive. My dog always makes a run for it when I spray her down. Another downside is that you need to spray your dogs with it frequently, like daily. On the label, it says "use as needed for ongoing protection", and "safe for daily use". So, basically the manufacturer did not provide any evidence regarding how long the protection lasts after each use. As for the effectiveness, this product does drive away fleas. I saw with my own eyes that a flea jumped for its dear life after I sprayed and fluffed my dog's coat. The manufacturer said it kills fleas, flea eggs, and larvae, so I would trust that and you should change all beddings, covers, or anything you can throw into the washing machine if you spot a flea issue. Then continue to spray your dog with the product and any furniture they encounter for good measure. After all, you won't be able to see flea eggs and they are the root cause that your flea problem persists despite all efforts of eliminating adult fleas. As for ticks, I think this product is just as effective as topical tick prevention. First, most oral tick prevention requires the ticks to bite so they can die within 24 hours which is not enough time for them to transmit Lyme disease. Most topical tick prevention contains permethrin so it will prevent and repel tick attachment, but it is not 100%. I suspect the cedar oil smell in Wondercide will repel tick attachment, because I have never found a tick after using the spray that day (but not next day). But I am not 100% sure how cedar oil works on ticks. More science needed to be done. All I know is that ticks are harder to kill than fleas, but most diseases require the tick to attach for more than 48 hours. In other words, finding a slightly engorged (and likely dying) tick on your dog is mostly likely fine as it takes time for them to transmit disease. Anyway, I guess what I am trying to say is that ticks prevention is harder to achieve with Wondercide, but it gives similar level of protection as compared to oral or topical treatment, without the harsh chemicals. As of now, Nov 2023, I was not able to find any better solutions than Wondercide for my dog. Cedar oil seems to be the least toxic solution so I am going to stick with it until something better comes along. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ THIS ONE ACTUALLY WORKED, SO FAR???!!??! *by on Reviewed in the United States September 15, 2024* For the regular 16oz version:None of the cats enjoy being sprayed, but they were far tamer with this method vs BATHING them with flea shampoo. Tested this spray on short-hair and long-haired kittens. They seemed fine. An older cat sneezed and began heavily drooling, but other than that, he seems fine.The fleas made a mad-dash to the face; even a gloved fingertip laced with the stuff was enough to deter them and cause them to slow down before they stopped moving. It took a couple of these finger swipes to get them, but some were too fast for me.I also sprayed a box a cat loved to frequent, and a hidden flea popped up right after. I should have had my phone on me to prove the effectiveness of this product while I watched it squirm around in a short circle over and over before ultimately stopping. It were a larger one, too. The spray must’ve hit that flea so hard, it didn’t know which way it were going.I were skeptical about trying this brand, due to the main ingredient being cedar-related. The first flea spray I ever tried was “Cedarcide”. All it did was slow a flea down for a bit, or lure them out towards the cats’ faces where I frantically had to comb/pluck them out bit by bit if I could catch them.Next, I tried Vet’s Best. It didn’t seem to do much, and it scared me to use it in the home and on the cats due to the peppermint, but they turned out perfectly okay. But there were still fleas and they were multiplying fast.I kept cleaning/spraying around the house with different anti-flea brands, washing fabrics and grooming the cats, feeding them flea preventative chews and giving them baths; nothing seemed to work, my arms were getting mega scratched up by multiple unhappy wet and soapy cats, and I was about to give up. I were skeptical to try Wondercide’s cedar spray due to, now, knowing cedar oil only repelled fleas and did not get rid of them. But, now I’m surprised.The cats knew it were helping them, but they still did not enjoy it. For one of the long-hairs, the best example this stuff were actually doing something was whenever I would comb that kitty after a spraying/bath, massive globs of flea dirt and rapidly moving fleas would immediately catch my eye. This time, the usual mass of flea dirt were lifted away, but NONE of the fleas were moving. That was great enough proof for me!And when I sprayed flat surfaces that appeared to have, what I guess, were teeny tiny flea eggs, they practically exploded—as in, most of them were there one second then gone the next as if they just dissolved away. A few still remained, but overall, things seem A LOT BETTER after emptying more than half the bottle along the environment and on multiple cats. The aftermath left them with sticky/clammy-feeling fur though.There have been a grand total of about 2 scratches had from 2 different cats at fleas I might have missed, as of yet. It’s still too soon for me to cast a final definitive verdict, but so far so good. I wish I had tons more of this stuff, now!!!Update: Two days later, after the extra strong aroma calmed down, some fleas reappeared seemingly out of thin air, again!🤣 Thankfully, nowhere near the usual amount. And no more flea eggs have fallen, in plain sight, so far.—Review for the larger version:Despite the pricey cost, so far, this still has been the only topical treatment that seems to actually help!As I’d originally bought the regular smaller size, after spraying the majority of two stories, the stuff was already less than half by the time I got to the cats. With this larger bottle, there was plenty left over afterward! I were able to not only spray the cats, but to do so for two different days. It were wild watching some of the fleas fall right off.Overall, this Wondercide brand is a bit hit or miss? But is still mostly effective. After spraying, once again, the cats tended to not scratch for a stretch of hours—then once they do, upon inspection, new fleas seemed to have spawned out of the ether. Even when the cat had remained in roughly the same spot or area—magically, a sudden fresh batch appears. At least, the size of this new horde is, again, typically far more meager, in comparison—but it still causes me to frown deeper than M. Bison, and think a thundering: ‘H O W ?!!!!???!!! WHERE ARE THEY COMING FROM?!!?’ Haha.As previously mentioned , the cats absolutely detest being sprayed, but they recognize that this stuff must do more good than not for them, as they readily accept what is to occur next when they see me pick up the bottle—compared to how much they’d try to scratch my head off, while I’m holding them, if they so much as glance at a tub or sink of water. So, I’d call that a win.It’s great seeing them able to nap or play, and not need to scratch for a while—but once that hind leg eventually goes up, sometime later in the day, that disheartens me and has me wonder if maybe there is some temporary itch-numbing occurring as opposed to a full-on specific flea clear out by the ingredients.I’ve no idea, but this stuff is the closest we’ve been to a flea-triumphant victory, so far. I’m not happy about that $30+ price tag, but it is lasting longer than the regular size—for me, anyway. The problem is you have to directly contact them with the stuff. I know it doesn't really prevent them unless my dog was absolutely coated in the stuff. I did have to reapply about twice a day. But as a temporary measure over a holiday weekend until I could get an Rx and pest control out, this at least kept a lot of fleas off of my dog.I would recommend putting more on their face and hind end than I did. That's where they ended up. I wanted to avoid sensitive areas, so I only lightly rubbed some on in those spots. Wrong move. The fleas gathered on my little girl's face and behind. So I ended up putting just about as much on those places as the rest of her.I used almost all of the bottle over about a 3-4 day period. You really have to put it all over your dog.WARNING: They don't tell you on the product's description, but the lemongrass scent will turn a white dog yellow until it has been removed. While this might be handy to be able to tell where I put the stuff and what I missed, I don't want any Ol' Yellers. :OThe lemongrass scent will make your dog and house smell like lemon Pledge furniture polish. If you have to spray bedding and carpets, it gets extremely strong. I sprayed the dogs outside to help and to let fleas jump off out there, but it didn't make much of a dent in the overall house smell. While it may seem pleasant at first, it becomes overwhelming.
