Review: Difficult to work with - I bought three different colored reels of Matterhack and I hope that the other two are better than this gold one. I started off using this as I ran out a reel of PETG and I had to swap this in to finish the part. Black and gold. It would look nice. Well, I couldn't run a temp tower or bridging at the time. Well, immediately I had problems as it wouldn't adhere to the prior PETG so the print was cancelled. After that I ran a number of prints just to find out what was going on with this filiment as I've never had PETG so bad as this. First, it was wet. The clay packet that they use obviously didn't do much if anything. Even after drying it out I had adhesion problems requiring me to set my print bed up to 65C, and I was using a glue stick on a glass bed. I've never had more problems with PETG sticking to my bed like this stuff. Next adhesion problems occurred with temperature settings. If I printed below 238C I ended up getting hairs being formed as the material wasn't sticking to itself. At 241C bridging went to hell. I've never had as much problems with PETG as this stuff. I thought that I'd give it a try as some pathetic website said this was American made, which it clearly is not as stated on the label. I'll go back to using Inland PETG which I have no problems with if I want Chinese. Review: Terrible extrusions at all temperatures - EDIT... this is written for the Gold filament. I've only been printing PLA all this time with no problems on my Geeetech i3 Pro, so I wanted to try PETG. Judging from what I've seen about the product, I should have no problems with this filament. BUT... it extrudes really badly... at all temps I tested it at... 250, 245, 235, 225, and 190 (I know this is low, but wanted to see what it looked like comparatively). The photos show what the extrusions look like for 50mm pulls. All are rough, bubbly, and definitely NOT smooth as one would expect just pulling a strand of filament. The smoothest sample happens to be at 190 degrees. I did attempt to print a model (at 235) to see how it would turn out, but just like the filament pulls, the entire surface looks like the filament photos... I can't even describe how bad it looks! Is it just bad filament? A bad spool? This can't be normal for PETG, right? The model was printed at 35mm/s so I know it's not a speed thing. Also want to add that I was getting really terrible adhesion... could be due to the bumpy nature of the filament. Since installing an all-metal hotend on my 3D printer (Deltaprintr Kickstarter model) I've been experimenting with other filament types that take a hotter printing temperature. Most of these typically require a heated bed, which my printer doesn't have, but I'm finding that BuildTak works great as a printing surface with these filaments, including Taulman T-Glase and this Hatchbox PETG. I printed at 250C and was delighted with the smooth print, easy feeding and just enough grip to the Buildtak to keep it from moving without being difficult to remove when the print was done. The test print I chose had "support" and I wondered how easily it would remove, but it came off cleanly.
