On the remote the buttons are a little easy to press, I pressed then several times while remote was in pocket so I took it apart and put some heat shrink wrap around the entire button on circuit board but didn't shrink it down and just kept trimming it down until I got the right feel, now the buttons have the perfect resistance. Instructions say 5 amps recommended. Not sure what awesome awning is but it's fused for way more than 5 amps. The instructions are not that great though. It took me a while to figure out how to make the latching function work with the remote. For others wondering the same thing: after you solder the terminals on the back to enable the latching function, the remote is still "momentary". You need to reprogram the remote by pressing the learn button twice. Even this was a bit of a learning episode though, as it expects three buttons on the remote; up, stop, and down. I learned a trick thru experimentation: if you press up for the first function, then press BOTH buttons for the STOP function, then down for the last function, this gets you thru the learning process, and the stop function WILL work if you ever need it.
