This action keeps the alge and "mung" that grows and backs-up the line during the long hot season from clogging up, restricting flow and bypassing to the drain pan, which has filled up and overflowed onto a bedroom ceiling. (expensive repair) This funnel fits nicely in the riser tube. The use of bleach allows free flowing liquid to drain into the house sewer system. This funnel helps prevent another costly repair.
