The bucket is made out of metal which should last. I bought this for my 2 year and three months old grandson. His feet do not touch the ground and the "boom" is a little to heavy for him to lift on his own. Once he grows a few inches and can plant his feet on the ground, I think he will be better able to handle the mechanics of the digger. I would recommend this to anyone looking to buy one of these.
