## Description

Just as a professional athlete doesn’t show up without a solid game plan, ethical hackers, IT professionals, and security researchers should not be unprepared, either. The Hacker Playbook provides them their own game plans. Written by a longtime security professional and CEO of Secure Planet, LLC, this step-by-step guide to the “game” of penetration hacking features hands-on examples and helpful advice from the top of the field. Through a series of football-style “plays,” this straightforward guide gets to the root of many of the roadblocks people may face while penetration testing—including attacking different types of networks, pivoting through security controls, privilege escalation, and evading antivirus software. From “Pregame” research to “The Drive” and “The Lateral Pass,” the practical plays listed can be read in order or referenced as needed. Either way, the valuable advice within will put you in the mindset of a penetration tester of a Fortune 500 company, regardless of your career or level of experience. This second version of The Hacker Playbook takes all the best "plays" from the original book and incorporates the latest attacks, tools, and lessons learned. Double the content compared to its predecessor, this guide further outlines building a lab, walks through test cases for attacks, and provides more customized code. Whether you’re downing energy drinks while desperately looking for an exploit, or preparing for an exciting new job in IT security, this guide is an essential part of any ethical hacker’s library—so there’s no reason not to get in the game.

Review: Good Book, but Poor Print by desertcart - The book itself is a good informative read for the budding PenTester, and/or as a reference guide to dust away any cobwebs for out of touch PenTester. The let down for this is the purchase from desertcart - Their printout is of poor quality. The illustrations should be in colour but the book is entirely in black and white. Also note that some of the print (at least, my copy) is poor in places and is equivalent to the old dot-matrix print-out. In some area's the text is washed out and can be hard to read. I will be complaining to desertcart about this shortly.
Review: Manual Exploiting - Great book for learning pentesting the manual way. This book focuses away from pentesting using metasploit, making it different to most other books. It further touches on both windows and Linux. The book has a lot of new (last year) vulnerabilities with good explanations and exploits you can try out. Like Penetration Testing (Georgia Weidman also another great book) it sets out setting out a lab and installing software for the testing element. Unlike Penetration Testing book, this book sets out practical (field) pentesting with examples e.g. the section on using Raspberry Pi as a penesting tool has led me to setup a raspberry Pi penetesting Rig. I lost my first copy of this book and ended up ordering another one, shows how interesting I thought this book was. I have recommended this book to all my students as a good starting point to get into the field of Pentesting.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The book is good but buy an up to date version
*by M***R on 28 February 2021*

My purchase was an old version of the book, so the tools changed and everything is changed. Most of the scripts didn’t work. I mean what do you expect, right? A github repo should do the work
