The round cold shoe fastener is in fact metal, but the elbow fastener and the light stand fastener are plastic with a metal insert. A pair of these arrived with molding cracks on the elbow fasteners, but Amazon quickly replaced the pair with a good set. The hot shoe clamp screw is finicky and quite small making it difficult to snugly secure a speed light hot shoe without using a screwdriver. The umbrella securing screws are a good size and easy to use. So far, the light stand fastening screws have not stripped out the threads inside the mount, unlike a competitors parts.
