I smoke meat regularly and weight is important especially when you are smoking different meats at the same time. I have already used it for weighing different meats and other items and found it to be accurate and easy to adjust. The platform is large enough to accommodate many larger items without resulting to placing a larger surface on it. I have not needed to tare with it yet, but because it adjusts smoothly and easily and zero stays on zero, I anticipate that it will not be a problem. It is made in China and the metal work is not as finished as I would like it but as a utility it functions well, is easy to clean, and it is sized and shaped for reasonable storage. Even at the $59 range it would not be a bad deal. It isn't digital, it will not tell you the room temperature, or tell time.
