It works well most of the time--it's definitely sharp. Occasionally, it gets hung up on the carrots because it grabs too much peel. I thought it was just me because this is the first peeler of this type I've purchased and I'm still getting used to it, but my sister (who uses this type of peeler all the time without issue) was using it the other day, and it did the same thing to her. I've also noticed that if my potatoes are starting to get a little soft, it has a hard time grabbing the peel; on hard potatoes, it works fine. I do like it for adding shredded carrots to my salads. The standard vegetable peeler I'd been using gave me tiny, thin strips; I can get thicker, wider strips with this peeler. However, the peelers I bought locally (metal blades), made it too much work to peel a yam. I've always loved roses, so I figured I could use this to brighten up the kitchen, even if it turned out not to be an improvement as far as the actual peeling went. I'm very glad I bought this. It's a beatiful tool, and the ceramic blade makes peeling so much easier than the peelers I had been using. I'm keeping it in the original packaging between uses, at least for now, as the lifetime warranty requires return in the original package. How many of us keep the package something like this comes in?
