The stand's clamp is padded, so it won't scratch your table, and the arm adjustments are solid and won't move until you want them to. The phone holder uses spring compression so it firmly hold the phone by the sides, but isn't so wide that it prevents you from using the touchscreen. Most products of this type use springs to adjust the height and angle, but I found that the springs are always too tight, they don't allow for fine adjustment, and go out of adjustment easily, making it necessary to fiddle with the thing when you just want to get on with what you're doing. The arms are held in place with screw tensioners and they stay in place. If you just want to set it up and get on with your work, this is what you need. You pay more for a design like this, but it's well worth it just to avoid aggravation.
