The box is unassembled, so I suppose you could fabricate a countertop to the exact measurements and replace. tHat could be expensive, Or you could put something you like atop the grey counter...maybe even contact paper. It is a great unit for the money. **Q: Can anyone tell me if there are wood braces or some kind of brackets on the back side so you can screw the cabinet to a wall? thanks...** A: The unit I purchased just sits on the floor in front of the dryer exhaust hose, and next to my stackable washer/dryer unit. I then built a shelf at the back of the storage unit over the dryer exhaust hose that is fastened to the wall and sits on a step up on top of the back of the storage unit, insuring that nothing can fall down behind also adding to the laundry folding area. I also purchased the wall unit which I screwed into the ceiling and into a stud I located on the wall behind it, I then added a towel bar underneath to hang items which I take out of the dryer that I don't want to get wrinkled. I just love them. **Q: What is the distance on the handles holes, or distance from drilled hole to hole?** A: 5.0 inch center to center on the drilled holes **Q: Is the top of the cabinet water resistant? More like a laminate?
