Yes, the timer can only be set for once or twice a day and you can't choose the feeding time, but I'm just happy my fish got fed. I chose the once a day option and it dropped his pellets at 12pm every afternoon. It is important to note this only works with pellets. When I tested this before I left for my trip I found it did not drop too many either. There is a sliding plastic piece that can prevent too many from being dispersed. Typically anywhere from 5-8 came out. Which was fine with me doing just a once a day feeding.
