As a byproduct, they are also great for teaching and practicing proficiency of a straight line technique, as any movement (hip shift, leaning forward, etc.) is highlighted on the return of the bar to the pads. Caution: If anyone else uses them in the gym, please do not let them release weights at the top of the lift (they are not made for this!). Aside from me hating weights being dropped from height, most will naturally push the bar away from them and this may mean missing the centre of the pads. Weights should never be released at the mid-position and always returned to the pads.
