Loud when it needs to be.
I'm a daily bike commuter and I've had this for 3 years. It's still working and I haven't even needed to change the batteries yet. It is loud enough to get the attention of drivers with their windows up which is really important. Little metal bells don't cut it with drivers. It has a simple, single-button interface. No switches or apps. I like that a quick tap makes a slightly less loud chirp for warning pedestrians and other bikers, otherwise I just lay on the horn to make sure that cars know I'm there. This is a must if you are sharing the road with cars.

This horn is a LITERAL life-saver
I shopped around for WEEKS and I'm happy I bought this one. Cycling is my main source of commuting, whether for work, fun, or exercise. I live in midtown Manhattan and cycling here is a sport only for the brave or the idiotic. Bike horns (not bells) have saved my life multiple times. When my old horn fell apart (and so did its replacement...), I searched for a new one that met all my requirements. The only thing that worried me about this horn was the fact that it used standard alkaline batteries instead of being USB-rechargeable. I took a risk because it's very hard to find a product that is as loud as this one claims to be, without a bunch of extra nonsense. (I don't want a motion detector alarm! I don't want a remote control! I don't need an LED screen!) I've been using this for about a month and a half now, and have not had to replace the batteries. And trust me, I use this a LOT. I wish there were different noise settings. My old one had five different sounds you could cycle through (no pun intended). But this horn still gives you the option of a quick push (a little chirp) or a hold (piercing siren). The handlebar "remote" is very convenient and easy in an emergency traffic situation. The horn (which sounds more like a siren) is VERY loud. I don't know how to measure or estimate decibel levels, but I know this is loud as hell. This has truly saved me from some potentially horrendous accidents with drivers who do not pay attention to cyclists. I haven't really tested the waterproofness but the light exposure to rain has been fine. THIS IS THE ONE YOU WANT

Loud horn, as advertised.
Overall, a good horn. It is nice and loud. The brackets aren't the best fit, but I made it work. Can't spell of the battery life as I only had it for a month.

Reactions 80% of the time.
Very loud noise maker. Easy installation. Activation button slips a little on the handle bar with a clumsy installation around the brake and shifting handles, but there are solutions for that problem. I use a grocery store vegetable bag and rubber band around the handle bar to solve the moisture problem. I do not like the idea of twisting the horn off the mount every time I leave the bike outside. It is the best device that I have found for getting the attention of oblivious, selfish morons. However, it is not a cure all, some people you can not do anything about, so be prepared. I would estimate the horn gets reactions 80% of the time, much better than without the horn. The horn user should consider courtesy by giving long distance initial warnings, it is loud and startling. Not stolen as of this review date!

Loud but sounds like an alarm, not a horn.
Loud but sounds like an alarm more than a horn. Wish it had more than one sound, especially for the price.

Easy install. LOUD!
Excellent horn! The remote trigger is a nice touch. Used it several times today. My scooter is turning into a beast!

What’s most important to know.
There are two settings. One that sounds like a regular bike horn and one that sounds like an emergency vehicle behind. You is very loud and very high-pitched and will definitely get people‘s attention.

I was disappointed at the sound-pitch.
I put this on my Litespeed bike. Relative easy to install. Loudness? Disappointing. I have a decibel meter > Six inches from device full blast = 135db. Six feet from device = 120db. 20 feet from device = 89db. 50 feet from device 66db. Inside my Ford Fusion, windows up, 35 feet away = 19db. Lame. The reason I say this is because when road cycling & moving at-speed, often you can see what's going to happen 200+feet away! You want to use the horn at a distance, first as a warning/awareness. Most vehicles have their windows UP, radio on. I replaced a 10 year old AirZound...WAY LOUDER!! This new Hornit is FAR more convenient, but not nearly as punchy. So the 140db claim is accurate, up close. But the pitch sounds like an angry bird...VERY high pitched. I didn't return it (came close), as I retired to a very rural area, and this is sufficient. But a pocket-sized canned airhorn would be just as loud if not louder. Quality was good. Easy to install. Sound was disappointing.

Great product. Recommended 👍🏻
Really great horn! Genuinely loud. 2 modes. I would say this is a necessity for safety while cycling. Not too difficult to install. Recommended 👍🏻
