They're the perfect thickness and don't restrict airflow for my exhaust system in my grow tent. I love the black color it just looks better than the white. Pretty easy to install and remove but does snag on the carbon filter sometimes. I don't know if it helps with smell because that's what my carbon filter is for. It fits snugly but easy to remove.
