Review: A versatile and reliable contact sensor - Switchbot's Contact sensor is useful in many situations. It's easy to install and the Switchbot app provides settings for it to be used on a door or a cupboard. I even have one attached to a cat flap! Battery life is good and, as well as linking to the Switchbot app, I have also connected the contact sensor to the Samsung Smartthings app which allows me to control non-Switchbit bulbs via the sensor. The sensor also includes a small motion sensor which allows you to determine if visitors are leaving or arriving alongside a light sensor. I have found that notifications via the Switchbot app can be delayed (despite disabling battery optimisation etc) but they come through instantly via Smartthings. I have purchased contact sensors from other manufacturers in the past but this is the most versatile by far.

**Q: Will I be able to see the status when I am away from my flat if I placed this on the front door?**
A: It shows the status of the sensor in the SwitchBot app. You can also run Alexa routines with this sensor to make a sound through an amazon speaker when opened.

A: Yes, I have 3 of them

**Q: How much wifi will it use? Im wanting to place it in my toolbox at work (no wifi) so will have to get a 4g router im just curious how much it will cos**

Thanks for asking! This item is a Bluetooth product, and it works as a trigger for your SwitchBot product line. If you would like to get longer distance interaction, it might need a SwitchBot Hub Mini (sold separately) to connect to WiFi

**Q: Can you detect motion without the door sensor being triggered? e.g. door is shut and someone walks past? will it detet that**
A: Yes. If you have the hub and if you’re triggering another SwitchBot device.

Switchbot's Contact sensor is useful in many situations. It's easy to install and the Switchbot app provides settings for it to be used on a door or a cupboard. I have purchased contact sensors from other manufacturers in the past but this is the most versatile by far.

Motion sensor works well with my other switchbot products. My only gripe is that it seems to the batteries don't seem to last long and I'm constantly putting AAs in it. The app is very good and I much prefer it to the ewelink application.
