There are LED lamps that are far more suitable. Get some expert advice as you select what you need for your particular application. **Q: Are these bulbs instant on?** A: Pretty much. I'm not sure what you mean by "instant" as there is a very slight delay after flipping the switch but nothing like an old incandescent light taking a couple of seconds to warm up. White light instead of that crappy yellow color. These use very little power. These do not get hot, they just get warm. I have had no flickering problems as I have had with others. I never tried these with a dimmer switch, just on/off. I used these in my garage and they really light things up while not costing me as much to run. Older lights drew more power.
