It depends not only on weight but how your cat acts in a carrier. I had no problems with my 13 pound cat in the carrier but she is shy and quiet. I would not use the carrier for my eight pound former feral Torti that panics when put in a carrier. It is not the sturdiest carrier but it is well made for a plastic carrier and I love that it folds nearly flat for storage. **Q: Will this fit under the seat in a plane** A: No it won't. Its pretty spacious for a cat carrier which is a plus for it. It's really both too tall and wide to fit under a plane seat unfortunately. It would be nice to see a "travel" version of this carrier for that purpose. **Q: Is it gray/tan or grey/blue? (Previous answers say both, which is confusing)** A: The body of the carrier is a slate blue/gray and the door, handle and locks on top are beige. I hope that helps.
