The APs are power over ethernet (PoE) and there's no power in that part of the suspended ceiling, so a switch that was PoE itself and could pass that power through to whatever's plugged into it was a big help. Installing this switch was as simple as plugging it in. A moment later, the APs were visible on the network and all was well. Review: Not fully PoE compatible - Check the manual before buying (or see picture attached). Although it's marketed as 18 Watts max with an 802.3at supply, you cannot connect two class 3 devices, even if they draw less than a combined 18 Watts - and you can't work around this by setting it to class 1/2 either as it'll then likely overload and power off that port if one of them goes over 7 Watts. The software user interface is awful however. For example, time setting only allows a unicast sntp ip address to be entered even though there seems to be the capability to enter a domain - this option appears after an erroneous entry only but the gui then doesn’t accept the entry. The wizard keeps appearing even though I’ve asked it not to rerun the wizard. Locked out several times because of “too many logins” More features than home users would need - POE is the reason I’ve bought it.
