I chose to use this to secure through the chin strap loop or whole chin guard to a solid point I could loop on the bike. I think I can make do with it but most likely will get the next longer version since not a weight adder and can easily stow in the saddle bag. Lock seems to be of good quality and enough to deter average theft or falling from bike to ground. Will not stop lineman's type pliers but if they are that motivated I'd rather them do that than damage the more expensive bike in their theft.
