It prevents the wipes from coming out all at once. I was tired of have to shake the wipe package with one hand trying to just get one wipe at a time. It has a sticky bottom so it stays in place on the counter. The size of the container is big enough to fit most wipe packages. The seal on the container does a good job at keeping the wipes inside wet.
