The ITR9608 (Slot Optical Switch) consists of a gallium arsenide infrared light-emitting diode and an NPN silicon phototransistor. They are wrapped side by side in a black thermoplastic housing on the convergent optical axis. The phototransistor only receives infrared radiation, and the packaging system is responsible for optimizing mechanical resolution, coupling efficiency and isolating ambient light. Great stuff! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good sensor but needs better support *by A***Y on 1 December 2020* This is a very well made and compact sensor with many potential uses. It records the interruptions of an IR sensor which makes it ideal for detecting movements such as fan rotations or motor rotations. The sensor has an excellent response time but the support is not as good on the manufacturers wiki as it is for their other products.
