I think they will get you in the general direction you will need to go. That being said, I bought them for the starter, which works great, not for the compass. **Q: Is the compass accurate?** A: Pretty accurate. You know, as accurate as a tiny compass can be. Compass and fire starter work as advertised. The flint and steel put off a real nice spark.
