Required diabetic cat food
There aren't a lot of food options for a diabetic cat, especially none that are light on the wallet. This was the lowest priced with a coupon at the time. My 18-yr old cat doesn't seem to love nor hate it. He does eat less now, so at least he's lost weight which was desperately needed. I don't know if that's because of the food or his age. On another note: Amazon canceled my original order without calling my vet. I ordered on a Friday, called my vet on Monday afternoon to see if they had received a request from Amazon - they hadn't. Tuesday morning, I received a cancelation notice from Amazon. I called them, and they said they couldn't contact my vet. They hadn't even tried. The lesson I learned is to not order on a weekend because they only try within 24-48 hours.

Kitty loves it.
Just found out one of our 4 cats is diabetic. This was one of the vet recommended foods. Fortunately, our cat loves it

Great option for my sugar cat
Caring for my sugar cat is very important to me; she has been with me for many years and this is helping me have more years with her. I like the fact that subscribe and save provides her food on a regular basis and for less than it costs at the vet. The process was fairly simple. I obtained a written RX from my vet and shared it with Amazon via chat. Just know that even though the RX was submitted during chat it still must be verified by the vet's office before fulfilling the order. Glad to have finally made the change.

Keeps my cat's Diabetes in check
My cat was diagnosed with Diabetes about 18 months ago. He is on Lantus insulin twice per day and we test his blood sugar at home twice daily as well. We free feed him Purina DM dry, as well as Fancy Feast Classic Chicken wet twice daily. His blood sugar is usually between 130 and 165 with this routine. Every cat is different, but this is what works for him. Most websites and vets will tell you not to feed any dry food at all to a diabetic cat, but that didn't work for us. Not only do I have 2 other cats to think about, but my diabetic cat simply won't eat enough wet food to sustain himself. I'm sure that if he could eat just low carb wet food only, we could lower his insulin dose, but that just isn't possible for us. All 3 cats love this food and we had no trouble switching them over from their previous Nutro brand. My vet said a low carb food would be better for my non-diabetic cats anyway. Turns out carbs are not good for any kitties. This food is about the same price at my veterinarian that it is here on Amazon. I can usually find it for around forty eight dollars at an online diabetic supply store. Some of them sell strictly human supplies, but others carry pet supplies including food. When the price is comparable, I do buy it from Amazon. The price seems to go up and down a lot for this particular product here on Amazon.

It works!!
My cat was diagnosed with diabetes in July 2014. His blood glucose was 404 at the time. He was 25 pounds (inside-only cat). My cat was fed Meow Mix for the majority of his life. The vet put him on this food, and I had to give my cat insulin shots every six hours. I would take my cat to the vet once per week to have his sugar tested. In September 2014, my cat's diabetes went into remission and I discontinued the insulin. My vet told me to keep my cat on this food. My cat remained on this food until his death at the age of ten (May 2016). My cat's blood glucose was checked annually (in 2015 and 2016); everything was normal. I attribute that largely to this food. My cat seemed to love it! I just wish that it was cheaper. :/ It should be noted that my cat stopped eating near the end of his life, which caused his diabetes to become deregulated. He died of congestive heart failure. His lungs were also full of fluid. His white blood cell count was very low. The vets also suspected pancreatitis, as well as some form of cancer. But, I think this is one of the best things you can do if you have a cat with diabetes. I strongly believe this food extended my cat's life. On a side note: my cat seemed to have more difficulty pooping while on this product. He would also poop outside of his litterbox on occasion. Has anyone else experienced this? My cat was very overweight, unfortunately. I'm wondering if that had something to do with it.
