There are 6 COMPLETE PAIRS--12 socks. There are 2 pairs each (4 socks each) of the 3 colors shown. **Q: is the eleastic at the top very stretchy? i HATE tight elastic that hurts my leg and leaves a mark** A: The inside circumference of the top band is just 6 inches when unstretched (that's for the size 12-15). My calf is 15.5 inches. If I pull these socks all the way up, I might as well apply a tourniquet. I wear them below the calf where they must stretch to only 12 inches and they still leave a deep mark. If your calf is any larger than 12 inches, I'd guess you will find these uncomfortably tight. **Q: Do these wear in the heel & toe? I always seem to get holes in my heel then toe section, thanks** A: I've bought these socks twice, in the 12 pack, sadly each time The socks have all gotten holes in the heels. It's not because of my footwear. I believe that the problem lies within the material and that nothing is made like it used to be. I had socks that were 10 years old or more that didn't wear holes in them and when they did it was the stitching that popped. Out of a Dozen socks I've had probably 3/4 of them end up with heel holes. I am women's size 11 and find men's socks to be more comfortable, so I bought 4 packs in different styles and am very satisfied. The colors are nice and not so masculine that I feel awkward wearing them, but still suitable for men. The socks feel plush and soft; they're also nice & warm (though a little synthetic in texture), but that's ok. As someone that prefers natural fabrics, I would have enjoyed a higher ratio of cotton but for the price, they're well worth it. The ankles are a bit slim (just so you know) and feel snug on me, so if you have thick ankles, they may be a bit tight. Haven't washed any of them yet since I bought so many pairs, so time will tell how they do at the laundry. I upped my rating from 4 to 5 starts because I'm impressed so far.
