I moved into this new place. Both bathtubs are very deep and the sides of the tub are high. There are no built in grab bars around inside the shower stall area above the tubs. I am not handicapped and I don't want to be. This is why I installed these grab bars. Even younger, able people can slip and fall in the shower/tub. This is an added layer of safety. There is a chance of damaging/cracking the fiberglass tub wall as well. If you use this with a fiberglass tub, keep in mind you are using it in a way that it is not designed for and the manufacture has warned against using it that way. **Q: will this fit on a corner large bathtub? needing to get some for my parents! just want to make sure they fit??** A: I don't believe it will open enough to fit on a corner. **Q: Does anyone know what I can use to cover the edges on the bottom outside metal part. My mother is worried that she will cut her leg on the corners.** A: Another idea is to use padded corner guards (also used for shelves or tables)…they are great and sold on Amazon, I have some on my fireplace mantle corners and they’ve saved me from a few bruises. :) **Q: I'm 175 lbs. because of old athletic knees, can i pull myself up from the tub with this? i hope! i know my wall grab bar is for balance only.** A: I weigh more than that and it works for me to pull myself up after I had some major surgery. The only thing you have to watch out for- is you need to grab low down on the bar next to the tub, the higher you go on the grab bar the less pull you can do unless you figure out a way to keep it tight while under a lot of pressure. My bar will slip if I grab at the top of it with my full weight at an angle, I have not figure out how to get it tight enough to hold solid to the tub without damage to the tub. The bar will hold you if it doesn't slip.
