The silicone rubber ones floated on the egg whites and allowed much to escape under the ring. The cleaning of the stainless steel rings is easy if you wipe the inside and outside of the ring with oil or melted butter. I always cook the eggs in a non stick pan with butter which I take a moment to wipe the inside and outside of the ring with melted butter. I still use a butter knife to run around the inside of the egg ring before pulling the ring off during cooking. Cleaning then is no problem. The silicone egg rings held egg residue that was difficult to clean. On another note: I would have liked to have egg rings in a larger diameter.
