Astromania 2 inch to 1.25 inch Twist-Lock Eyepiece Adapter for Telescope Metal - Precision-Engineered Positive-Lock System, Ensuring Optimal Centering of Eyepiece with Protection Against Scratches

I needed a new 2" -1 1/4" adapter and on impulse bought this as it wasn't much more expensive than the cheap, simple ones. I am very pleased with the purchase and will get more now. I do astrophotography and need a secure mount for cameras, etc. being attached to the 2" focuser's. I have had a few accidents in the past when things fell out. This adapter is moderately low profile to not aggravate back focus issues. It is very secure (not falling out) on the 1 1/4" side. It is also well centered. The 2" side is slightly tapered to reduce the likelyhood of falling out. It works better than some of my "grooved ring" adapter, but they vary a lot so make sure it works with your stuff. It is a joy to just turn the ring to lock the 1 1/4 " accessory.

I primarily purchased this to get precise centering with my laser collimator and it works perfectly for that. I get precise, repeatable centering which makes collimation a breeze. Very well made and highly recommended.

The fit, finish, materials, even workmanship are good quality. The engineering behind it lacks expectations. The turning of the locking ring is stiff. The biggest disappointment is the number of rotations needed to lock down an eye piece? The 2" locking ring on my diagonal is 1/4 turn smooth as silk and locks tight. This takes a full 360 degree turn to firmly lock a 1 1/4" eye piece down. Might seem petty to some but I will most likely replace it with a better engineered twist-lock.

The part is very solidly built and the taper helps to hold it in the 2inch eyepiece hole. The way it locks on to the 1.25inch eyepiece is very nice.

I mainly use this for collimation w/ my cheshire. If the adapter is barely held in w/ the locking screws and the cheshire is loosely tightened it works great. Do not over tighten either of those or it wont hold straight. The one thing I do not like about it is that you have to really tighten it down to hold an eyepiece if like me your setup puts the focuser on the bottom of the tube. Love astromania products and will always be a customer

While the initial quality seemed high, you need to be very careful not to unscrew it too far. In the dark I did just that, and out came the ball bearings, so no more adapter.

This 2 - 1.25 converter is well worth the money. The twist lock mechanism really shines compared to the usual simple thumb screw design. Spend the extra few dollars, it's worth it. This locks the eyepieces in place completely and keeps them centered. I highly recommend.

My orion dobsonian came with a crummy 1.25 adapter with a missing set screw. After trying to contact orion for a simple replacement screw for weeks, I decided to just get this instead. This gives a nice firm fit with both my 1.25 celestron zoom eyepiece, and with my xt8 telescope. The design is nice and the price was right. I recommend it you are looking for something like this. I believe the mechanism might be made of brass or some kind of softer material, to prevent scratching on your eyepieces. Not sure about that. And I really don't have any super-nice eyepieces where I would be worried about that anyways at this time. But a nice adapter at a good price. Been happy with any astromania stuff that I have gotten so far.

Wanted this to see if it would make a difference to my collimation with my 8 dob. I think it works really well and has made a different holding my tools and lenses very centre.

Excellent adapter. The hold is firm and centered. Customer service is first class.

Not impressed with either 1) this exposed screw 2) the holding strength of the Twist-lock Adapter Best to avoid this one.

Just what I needed to help steady and center my collimators. There is no need to overtighten, just turn until the eyepiece is snug and it will be centered in the adaptor.

Item meets specs and works well but Shipping was terrible, cardboard box in which the item was placed in was ripped in pieces so the Adapter was loose in the bag and it felt like the bag was dragged on the floor so the adapter edges were all scratched. I will be returning the item and buy another one
