Yes the ThunderBay will work on a M1 Mac. The version of SoftRAID that this comes with does not work, so you will need to install the beta version of SoftRAID. **Q: Assume no raid. if i install an independent drive from another drive enclosure, does it need to be reformatted to be used in the thunderbay 4?** A: Hello. The OWC ThunderBay does not have a RAID controller and uses Software to create raids.
