Works Well, but Instructions Could Be Clear
The bamboo steamer itself works great and does exactly what it’s supposed to once used correctly. It steams food evenly and feels well made, and I like the traditional design. That said, the instructions were not very clear, and I think this is important to note. At first, I had the steamer sitting on top of a pan with water underneath, assuming the steam would rise into it. That turned out to be wrong. The entire bottom of the steamer needs to be in contact with water. When used incorrectly, the bamboo started to char. Once I realized the steamer must sit directly in the water, it worked perfectly with no issues. Overall, it’s a good product, but clearer instructions would definitely help avoid mistakes, especially for first-time users.

Good quality and easy to use
A well-made bamboo steamer with good overall quality. It’s very convenient and easy to use, made from nice materials, and feels sturdy. The instructions are clear and straightforward, so there were no issues getting started. Great value for the price and quality.

Delightful Care about Customer
First of all? This was packaged and delivered perfectly. They used a pleasant feeling thin, 6 foot "rope" to carefully, cleverly, and beautifully hold the steamer together securely. Even better? NO KNOTS! With one pull of the woven rope/string, the steamer was released. It was delightful, showing care for the product and the customer. My second immediate thought is how well it was made compared to my old steamer from years ago. The older one worked fine, but was made of thin bamboo, kind of woven inside on the trays themselves. The best word would be flimsy looking and feeling. It still WORKED, but it was unattractive and looked hastily assembled. This Joyce Chen steamer? Was just beautiful looking, inside and out, using thicker bamboo, and the trays were much sturdier. Frankly, I was delighted by the entire "receiving" experience of this steamer. Care for the customer was obvious, something I see in videos about, for example, Japan, but rarely seen in local manufacturing. It also came with sensible care instructions. I haven't written a review in a few years. I did for this product, because, not only was I delighted? They inspired care reciprocated. I haven't used it yet, but I'm very familiar with using bamboo steamers, and I'm positive it will work beautifully. Love this.

Don't know what you got till it's gone
I bought this Joyce Chen 10 inch steamer back in mid-2023. It worked well while i used it, and broke in late 2025 after moderate use (2-3 times per month), as one of the sides first warped, then buckled, then finally the interior ring entirely came off. Still used it a bit beyond that, until finally deciding to replace it as it didn't hold steam quite as well with the interior ring missing. My initial thought was to go with a different brand as the Joyce Chen steamer did break after all, and I wasn't sure if 2.5 years was a good lifespan for a bamboo steamer. Well, after buying a different bamboo steamer on Amazon, I realize that the Joyce Chen steamer was probably way better. The [other brand steamer] is only half a month old, so it's still perfectly fine for now, but it just feels cheaper, lighter, and more shoddily made. Even the ties that hold the steamer together were thicker and tougher feeling on the Joyce Chen steamer. My instinct is that [other brand steamer] will last half as long before something cracks, breaks, or snaps, at which point i will shamefully come running back to the Joyce Chen Bamboo steamer. 2.5 years wasn't so bad after all.

Great quality and perfect gift for my mom!
I bought this 2-tier bamboo steamer for my mom, and she absolutely loves it! The quality is excellent—sturdy, well-made, and easy to clean. She’s used it for dumplings, buns, and vegetables, and everything cooks evenly with that nice, authentic steamed flavor. The two tiers make it easy to cook different foods at once, which she really enjoys. It’s such a beautiful, practical gift that adds a traditional touch to her kitchen. Highly recommend!

Loving it 😊
I love this! I’ve gotten to use it once so far and I can’t wait to keep using it! I do recommend to look at YouTube videos for prepping it before you use it!! I learned how to put it in boiling water and put vegetable oil on it and let it dry over night before using it because it comes smelling like.. well bamboo. So yeah YouTube is your friend if it’s your first time! I do love it so far it works really well!
