Helix Oxford Premium Fountain Pen (Stainless Steel) with Plastic Free Packaging

I'm seriously impressed by the weight and quality of this pen. It's incredibly good value for the price. I haven't been using it long so can't comment on longevity but as a weighty, stainless steel pen which writes smoothly and feels good in the hand it honestly rivals my (much, much more expensive) stainless steel fountain pen from Cross.

A really rather good - much better than basic - fountain pen. If feels sturdily made with a nice metal body, decent weight and balance. The design is a bit utilitarian rather than flash, but not bad at all. It took a little while to bed in but it writes quite nicely.

Absolutely brilliant pen. It's mostly metal so it's a good weight. There's no plastic packaging at all, some advertise no plastic in the item then it's wrapped several times in plastic bags. Not this, absolutely no plastic packaging. The only plastic I can see on the pen is just the bit that's under the nib and obviously the refill, everything else is metal. I use a syringe and refill the cartridge from an ink bottle, which makes it an even more environmentally friendly option. It's also British made so I'm happy that my purchase will help support our British companies. It has a good flow of ink from what I would consider a fine to medium tip and writes smoothly. The ink cartridge that comes with the pen is a small one with blue ink. There's enough room in the pen to contain a spare cartridge. I chose the rose gold pen which is matt and not as rose as some rose gold items are but it's still a lovely pen. It would make a good gift for the eco conscious, especially if you included a bottle of ink and an ink syringe.

Great starting fountain pen, easy to use with good grip. Suits the helix ink refills perfectly and doesn't smudge. Great value for money.

The helix fountain pen is perfect for everyday school/office. The nib is smooth, the weight (unposted) and the diameter of the grip section is just right for me. The inner plastic cap came off on the first day. When you post the pen, and rotate the body against the cap, the inner cap is unscrewed and comes off with the end of the body. To screw the inner cap back onto the outer, push the inner cap into the pen front until you feel the click. Apply glues if you want. Then push the outer cap in and rotate the body and cap in the way shown in the picture. The nib tine was very tight, and made some ink skipping. Holding the two shoulders of the nib with your hands and spreading the tine a bit increase the ink flow. This pen is metal bodied, well balanced and great value for money, it has become my go-to pen.

A great pen that’s dead cheap. Comes with an ink cartridge but decided to buy a converter so that I can use different inks with it. Have one silver one already and love it. Worth the buy.

This fountain pen is beautiful. The weight is perfect - nice feel without being too heavy, but every night, I finish work after using the pen for most of the day, and the next morning, I have to get the ink to flow all over again - Monday mornings after a two day break, it takes forever to get it to write again. I've been using cartridge fountain pens for 30 years, mainly cheap ones (because they're so fast), and I've never had such an issue! When it actually works, its lovely, and I wouldn't discourage anyone from buying it, it's just hard work. EDIT: This pen just gets worse - no matter how often I try and use it, the ink just won't flow. I've cleaned the nib, changed the ink cartridge, etc., and it still doesn't work properly. It's far too late now for me to return. I would NOT recommend this at all - total waste of money.

I have many fountain pens, of all prices and types and expected this one to perform. It will not. Ink never makes it to the nib -- and yes the cartridge is correctly inserted -- and still nothing, not even with priming in the sink. Perhaps I just got a bad one, but I have no way of knowing that. Others rec'd this brand and so I thought I'd give a try. Waste of time and being returned.

I’m fairly new to fountain pens. My first fountain pen was a Sheaffer VFM. This pen is so, so much better. It has a nice weight to it so the pen sits firmly in your hand. It also has room for a spare cartridge in the barrel. The nib is very nice and the pen writes smoothly without scratching. If you are looking for an affordable fountain pen, this is the one to get! I was so pleased with the pen that I bought another one!
