Excellent Product but Be Wary
I tried ordering this product from Amazon twice and both times the product arrived dried up / hard - not as paint. I reached out directly to the manufacturer (in Nevada). The product they shipped me was in perfect condition and worked great! I used this on a rusted bathroom ceiling fan housing - not the fan itself but what you see when looking up at the fan. I found the product easy to apply (it was a bit thinner than a latex paint, but was not runny) and the odor was no where near as bad as some people described - no worse than an oil stain. I applied 3 thin coats and will wait 24 hours and will then apply a white semi gloss latex paint that matches the trim in the bathroom. I suspect you will be unable to reuse any leftover paint - to get the lid off I mangled it and if you don’t get an airtight seal, it will harden up. It’s easy to see how this product suffocates rust - it essentially dries more as a rubber coating than as typical paint. It is smooth and does look like paint, so top coating as I am doing is not necessary.

The Best for Treating and Preventing Rust on Metal
This is the best stuff I've found to prevent or treat metal with rust. I try to treat any rusty areas with the Rust Blast first, which really removes the rust, but this paint also inhibits the growth of existing rust if painted over. There are a few tips that I need to share with potential users of this product. The metallic grey is more silver than grey and it's thicker than the black. Therefore, the black may require more coats than the grey (silver). Also, these paints take a long time to dry, or cure. In other words, don't touch it even after it's sitting it the sun for an hour. Give it time to dry. Additionally, don't get this pain on your hands. This stuff sticks to anything and is very difficult to remove, especially fingers. Wear gloves. And finally, since this stuff dries like a weld, getting this pain on the rim of the can will eventually make it almost impossible to open the lid again. Thus the smaller cans are great. I am going to try transferring the contents into a screw-top canister and see if it works better, but I suspect it will only work if I keep the pain off of the rim. Hard to do if you shake it up to mix the paint first. Having said that, with a few precautions, this stuff is like painting a layer of armor over any metal surface. Rust can't grow if it can't breath. Highly recommended, but watch out for the welded lid syndrome which is practically impossible to open.

Paint seems ok, but could not open the lid
The problem I had was one I’ve never encountered before with a new can of paint. The lid could not be removed. It was like it was all one piece of metal. I could never get it to release using a screwdriver driver and then vise grips. I finally gave up and opened the bottom by using a kitchen can opener. After this I got the parts painted. Did not have anyway to seal the can so had to toss what was left. Hopefully the rust preventive paint works, and if it does I will increase the stars, but for now it’s one star.

Good results but difficult to work with (Updated)
Initial review (update at the end): This is my first time using Rust Bullet and I am pleased with the results so it won't be my last... BUT... It's difficult to work with. It is extremely tacky and begins skinning almost immediately. At first I thought they might have sent me an expired quart because as soon as I opened it, it began to expand into a thick foamy mess that started to spill out the top of the can, but I quickly went ahead and poured some out, mixed in a bit of solvent, loaded it up and went to spraying. The results... Really really good. I sanded using the suggested 80 grit and did 6 coats, the adhesion and hardness is amazing. The color options (white/black) do mostly limit it as an industrial paint as even though you can add a different top-coat the Rustbullet makes for a super solid top-coat. UPDATE (08-25-24) I've been repainting a bunch of jobsite boxes using this stuff so I thought I might expand on my review. Even though the results were good for the initial quart I ordered, I do think that first quart was past its expiration date as the paint I've ordered since has been of typical viscosity, hasn't foamed-up/skinned and has been easy to work with. A hardner is probably rarely warranted with this paint as after 24 hours it seems around 70% cured and by 48 hours it is 90% cured and is rock-solid. But with that said this product does not store wiell and should be used immediately after opening; I've been using the pint-sized to spray the jobsite boxes (spraying 5:3) and doing ~5 coats on ~25 sq feet before it's been depleted.

Good product ..re can to different container
Good product..bad lid. I managed to get it open the first time but couldn't the second time. I don't really know why but definitely clean any paint off rim. I am buying again but transferring to a different container immediately! Very expensive but seems to go a long way. I only got about 4 tablespoons the first can but went on smooth.

Durable, sticks to just about anything, rust protection.
This coating is the toughest rust-proofing and metal protection I have used. Wear gloves when applying it because it is hard to remove. I have a project car from the 70s, and any bare metal rusts fast. I keep a tin of this on hand to cover weak spots, and so far it has held up well. The finish is durable, almost like epoxy. It is a bit expensive, but it is worth it since you do not need to keep reapplying. It is basically a one-and-done coating, which makes it a solid value.

Best Protective Paint For Iron Railing
This paint is great protection for the iron railing on my deck. Previous high-end paints, even with oil-based primers did not hold up to UV rays. They required repainting every year or two. Bullet paint lasts 3 to 5 years in this application. The paint is a little difficult to use because paint in the can will skim over quickly once the can is opened. Use a thin plastic film in contact with the paint in the can to extend the work time. Also, don't count on this paint to store for long periods. Once open, it must be used within a few months. When painting, it is easier to use disposable brushes instead of cleaning your brush. Foam brushes worked well.

You will not get this paint off!
This has to be one of the toughest paints available. Seriously tough stuff! If you don't like doing jobs twice then use this.
