Does the job
I received a message on my phone that my Amazon package was one stop away and as soon as I did; it began to pour outside. The rain started coming down in buckets. My package arrived and I immediately opened it and tried it out. It definitely does the job. It kept me dry. The drawstring for the hood isn't great, but it isn't bad either. It is really big so if you plan on using this over layers of clothes and /or a backpack; you should be fine. It is lightweight so you won't feel weighed down. It is very much a no-fuss, simple poncho, but it is constructed well so you shouldn't tear it easily. I will be purchasing a second one as a spare to keep at work.

A good dual-use poncho and emergency fly at a GREAT price!
What I like best about this poncho is that there are loops at the corners for adapting it for a quick shelter. I pack six tent stakes and a ridgeline with it so I can pull it out to either put it on as a poncho OR set up a quick shelter in 2 minutes or less. Another great feature: with just a touch of practice, it's easy to fold back up and fit into the storage packet it comes with--and still have room for tent stakes and ridgeline. There are more durable conversion ponchos on the market--but nothing in this affordable range.

Good Poncho
It's light, easy to carry and fits over a daypack. The drawstring hood is a big improvement over cheap throwaway ponchos or garbage bags. I carry it around to ward off Austin's variable weather.

Incorrect Product Pictured
This is the smaller 54"x80" regular poncho and won't cover a larger backpack as shown in this picture. The poncho pictured is the 54"x94" Backpacker's Poncho. If you want the larger poncho as shown in this picture look for this 54"x94" version. Regular Backpacker Poncho 54 Navy The poncho is packaged very nicely and comes with a mesh storage pouch. It looks like it would work well without a backpack or maybe with a smaller daypack.

Light, Sturdy and Repacks Easily
Lightweight, easy to fold back in pouch, material appears strong enough to hold up for long duration. We traveled for weeks through Costa Rica with a couple of these in my day pack, used intermittently with no problems on reuse time and again
