I brought this on a whim and I love it! Been seeing the Divoom Ditoo all over my social media and thought it was the cutest thing ever. After some research, I thought Divoom Timebox would be more suited for me. A bigger 16x16 pixel display and a 6W DSP speaker. The Divoom Timebox Pixel Art Speaker is a unique and innovative device that combines a Bluetooth speaker with a pixel art display. It offers a range of features that make it an interesting and versatile gadget for any music lover and art enthusiast. There was a time when the ‘Black box’ idea was doing the rounds, the simple sell was that it could do anything. You would hold it on your lap, place on a shelf even fit into your pocket and listen to music whilst doing everything else. A black box theoretically is designed to do everything, when in this case you would say designed to do practically all that could be possible with what technological restraints are allowed. For example what communication channels are available, how does the interface work, how can information be conveyed and so on. You have music or any kind of audio sent by a mobile phone like news and weather and so on. And then there is the screen itself being a 16x16 pixel display quiet large enough to show the time, temperature and all sorts of animations there are thousands on the Divoom APP. The EVO is a very nice graphical display with a loud with a good six-watt speaker giving ample bass. Using the Divoom APP - available in Play - you can upload 16x16 images and also animated GIFs. There is a limit as to how many frames from a GIF you can import which is 60 frames. Essentially the APP/phone serve as a remote control for the EVO. Using the APP you can upload graphics, stream audio via Bluetooth, configure the clock, calendar, weather, temperature and display. And next the visualisations, which to me seem to be nothing but animated GIFs and not built in random graphics generation in the EVOs firmware. Shame really unless I am wrong of course. But of course a compromise is supplied in the form of a visualisation editor with the colours, patterns, blending and timing. Text handling is also supported for scrolling messages. The design editor gives you the ability to make still and animated frames for the EVO. The editor is adequate and allows batch imports from an animated GIF. Importing a GIF is as simple as tapping on the circular plus icon. Two sliding trackbars one for the animation speed and the other for media volume, what that would be for I do not know as GIFs do not contain sound. There are a few fun pastime features including but not just a gimmick is the music generator. Some of the instruments serve as a continuous loop and others as one-shot fill em in sounds. The visuals are just as effective. The EVO has ability to record up to 60 seconds of audio that can no doubt be used for an alarm. To help you go to sleep the EVO supports audio called alpha waves which are sounds soothing enough to send you to sleep. I haven’t tried them yet which is probably why I am finding it easier to sleep these days. There are plenty of different sounds to choose and can be assigned to whatever alarms you wish. Pre-configured daily events starting from when you wake up and go to sleep. This is simply for convenience mainly because if your EVO is up on the shelf and you cannot be bothered to reach it and you can just as easily access your phone and so on. The EVO has a built in battery and lasts a fair time. It communicates via Bluetooth and is no problem to set up. Visualisations work well. All in all I give this wonder-gadget five stars. Muscipula

Had time to try this little speaker out and I am suitably impressed with the performance of the unit. The sound is clear with nice bass and mids. The highs are clearly defined so the sound produced is excellent for the size of the speaker, it does distort some high sounds when the volume is at maximum, but its too loud on Max so it plays back fine at lower volumes (below 90% volume) The led function is really cool with dozens of preset graphics/animations plus with the ability to design your own patterns. All work without the app and you dont need your phone once the image/animation is uploaded to the speaker. App works well on Android, you can customise the speaker to display whatever image or animation you like along with notifications from your mobile. Very handy.. There are tons of preset stuff and some very good sleep aids that produce a warming glow and some sounds that assist you falling to sleep (White noise, rainforest, thunder and many many more). There are even some games you can play on the speaker (Tetris) and a shootem up type game! really cool Led is bright and clear with a retro feel to it (because of the pixel type leds) There is no audio input so very disappointed with this feature.. dropped a start because of this For the money this little speaker is excellent great for kids and adults alike. I would purchase another one Pros • Clear sound • Tactile Control Buttons • Good App features • Bright LEDs • Battery Life (real world use about 3-4 hours) • Small and Compact • App Alerts (Facebook, Text, Email ETC) Cons • A tiny bit expensive (£40 fair prices IMHO) • No Mini Jack input • Micro USB (Should be USB C)

I’ve been using the unique Timebox Evo Pixel for a few weeks now and really think its a great little device. There are many things that work really well and most can be accessed via the Divoom App. As a Speaker, I mainly play Spotify which works well and I can Skip songs, Pause or change Volume via the controls on the top and don’t need to get my phone out. It even scrolls the Song Name across the led’s for each song. The sound is good for the size and I would compare it to a Google Home Mini (1st Gen) but it does lack a little in bass - but this would not put me off as it makes up for it in many other ways. There are many options for the LED display that you can choose to use or disable by choice - for example it can switch between displaying the time, the temperature, date etc or just simply just the time or a selection. You can even set it to display the weather hourly or at a certain time. The LED display is fully customisable which you can have a lot of fun with or simply choose from LOTS of pre-made or new ones (These can be still or animated too. You can even scroll some text across LEDs). Theres lots of other functions available like, Stopwatch, Score keeper, Games! (simple/retro ones), a fun DJ mode where you can listen to your music and add fun sounds or beats along to it. The Alarm is easy to set and you can choose from preset sounds like ambient forest sounds to Ocean waves or Birds and more - OR your music, radio station or simple buzzer. Its sometimes nice to use the sleep mode and listen to light ambient sounds while I go to sleep (it will then turn off after a preset time)! I think is a great visual device and lots of fun, very useful, its portable too. Chances are you will only use 20% of the functions its capable of but its still worth it even if you do.

First of all, I would just like to say how well packaged this product comes, everything is secured tightly in place and cushioned so nothing can come loose and break in the transport process. Upon opening the packaging, I was a little surprised by the size of it, It’s smaller than expected but looking at it now it is the perfect size for a bedside table (which is what this product is best intended for I would say) As it can: •Be your alarm clock, •Show you the time, •Play music, •Show a relaxing image, •Source of mood lighting. The speaker on this is quite loud! Although not crystal clear (obviously) it’s loud enough and does the job well for it’s intended purpose. I’ve compared the sound with my Google Nest Mini, and they are quite similar, I would even say this is louder! Although both don't have the greatest bass so this won’t always be your main speaker if you’re a music lover, but still is an excellent feature and will definitely come in handy! You can also setup a range of visualisers to dance in time to your music. The battery life is excellent! I got around 4 hours of music out of it (all whilst it was still flashing pixel images!) I will be keeping mine plugged into the mains permanently though, so battery life will never be an issue! Where the Timebox evo excels though is its 16x16 pixel image display. There are that many images/animations to choose from, that you’ll never know what to display! The Divoom community is adding stuff everyday, and with the contests divoom hold each month, it’s sure to keep you checking back for more! This is my second Divoom product, (I also own the Digital 16x16 picture frame), and I can honestly say I will be buying more of their products in the future!

The Divoom Timebox evo is an epic bit of kit - I purchased the bigger brother earlier this month and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoy the retro LED light/pictures and wanted to add this to my collection. The Timebox Evo whilst small offers a decent amount of loudness and bass, its not going to shake the room - but its rich and clear...and surprisingly loud! The device has USB C charging input at the back and when fully charged appears to last long hours with the brightness on 100 percent (whilst testing this, I continued to play music and change the animation/picture) Bluetooth connection appears to work quickly, however the app can sometimes disconnect when changing between devices and selecting a new LED animation. The Divoom app is well designed with the ability to change the display and function on the fly, and also download community created LED animations - which allows you to have some truly amazing LED animations/pictures to show off your device. The build quality is brilliant, the device is coated in a soft rubberized plastic and feels weighty. I would highly recommend this if you are a bit of a techie/gamer/geek - you wont regret it.

After 3.5 years this started requiring a PIN to pair it, which I never encountered before. Consequently I could not adjust the time when the clocks changed in the autumn back to GMT. After 2.5 years I had a pixel die, well one colour as it was no longer white but yellow instead. The unit itself seemed OK, audio is fine. The software isn't great, the app always felt cluttered with gimmicky options and would often require re-pairing to configure it. Aesthetically the device looks good but I would not buy another Divoom product given the app experience for the Evo Pixel.

Even better than expected. Hours of amusement and great animations. Sound quality is also good.
