Good for what it's good for
I bought this bionic ear to hear words too quiet for me to hear in conversation in a quiet room. For that purpose, it worked mostly. In some quiet rooms there was still a lot of popping and interference, perhaps because we were in a housing area where a lot of remote control devices were around. Later, in a more secluded area, I had no trouble with interference. In a normal house where there is ambient noise, the ambient noise will override the voice. For instance, I have a ticking clock in my living room. The only thing audible is the ticking clock. If you are in a controlled and quiet environment, wanting to hear specific voices where there is no ambient noise, this will work for you.

Hard of hearing
I bought this because I lost my prior one and it is no longer available. I tried this one and it works great for the movie theater adn that is all I use it for.

Very Good Product
This sound amplifier is about as good as they get, according to my elderly mother who hates technology products and has difficulty using most. She loves this and says that it is easy to use and really helps her hearing. The only problem she has found with it is that if the unit is touched (or moved) a loud crackling sound comes through the ear buds. Other than that one issue, so far, it is a great product that can be recommended.

Scratching sounds when you try to use it
Because the microphones are attached to the plastic body, any time you touch, move or pick this up it will send a loud scratching noise to the headphones. Forget about putting this in a pocket and walking around. Also did not work well for TV at all. Again, just touching it or picking it up gently to move it will amplify a scratching noise (that the microphone is picking up through the plastic body). Included ear buds were of the dollar store variety.

Three Stars
OK for the price- 4 stars if it had on/off switch

does not work as expected
this does amplify some but there is too much static and is not very useful in hearing sounds like the television or someone talking.

Highly recommend over hearing aids!
Radio Shack makes a cheaper version and Pocket Talker makes a slicker looking more expensive version. All 3 work better than $2000 hearing aids for my nearly deaf 90 year old father, but the Bionicear has the best background noise cancellation. It has fallen a hundred times and the batteries last a very long time.

Junky
The little cloth earpieces fell off. The bionic ear makes a buzzing noise when I'm watching TV. It's better than nothing in that my neighbors cannot hear my TV. Junky for the price.
