Fantastic breakfast sandwich maker
I was kind of skeptical about this thing but am having such a good experience with it. Easy breakfast sandwiches and incredibly easy clean up. If you're like me and hate reading directions, don't overlook that each sandwich apparatus pops out and removes from the main griddle machine for easy cleaning. I didn't notice this until I went through a couple of messy clean ups and it made all the difference. I like spraying a little bit of Pam in the bottom which aids greatly in reducing sticking and improves clean up. Very enjoyable sandwich machine and I'm finding myself using it almost daily. Great recipes on their website. Good bang for your buck considering the utility and low cost. Tips: 1) Don't overload the top tray. Just put as little as possible on top of the egg. If you load stuff in the top tray and then close it, the weight and pressure will push the egg through the seams and you'll get runny egg on the base of the griddle plate making clean up more difficult. I just put cheese on top of the egg, wait about 20 seconds and then gently lay the top muffin/mini bagel and gently let the top tray rest on top and I rarely get egg running out the sides. ***Also, take a fork and pierce the egg yolk so that it flattens out. This will also cause less pressure from a non uniform surface. 2) Go easy on the cheese. Too much cheese will just make a mess. 3) A little bit of Pam spray on the top tray lets the bottom slide release much smoother. I heat mine up while I'm getting everything ready. I let 20-30 secs go by before I put the cheese on top of the egg and this allows it to start cooking and I have much less running from the seams. 4.5 minutes and the sandwich is perfect. Love this gadget. I never knew I'd use it as much as I do and it's become an almost daily part of my breakfast routine.

Simple and Very Consistent
Hamilton Beach is one of those brands with a lot of question marks, at least for me. I decided to write this review because this sandwich maker really outperforms my overall expectations. The videos in the ad are informative and accurate. I have used this to make about twenty breakfast sandwiches thus far and the only time things didn't work out were due to my errors. The total time from initial preheat, (3 minutes) to tasty breakfast is 8-12 minutes depending on your ingredients and tolerance for heated food. The egg can spill over some but the cleaning has been minimal. I have not had a sticking issue but I use a spray to make sure. I find a pair of silicone coated tongs work well to remove my sandwiches rather than a spatula. If you put meat in, the level may tilt and the egg may not spread evenly. It will cook but may leak through to the bottom. Again, not difficult to clean up. I have not used bacon, oooh, bacon!?! but I would not be surprised to see a greasy mess. I would probably use leftover bacon rather than fresh bacon. On that note, you MUST use cooked meats in this appliance. Most bacon is cured but will release a lot of grease. If I were to make an improvement, it would be to include an auto shut off. You need to be attentive to prevent an issue, but since I am usually hungry as a bear in the morning, I am drooling as I wait to hear that beep-beep saying it's breakfast time!! This is an inexpensive alternative to a drive-thru and will require as much time out of your day as waiting in line. Plus, you can make your coffee, or whatever you do, while you wait. unlike sitting in your car listening to traffic reports. LOL. Bottom line, if you are here, you want a way to make an easy breakfast. This is it, if you want an egg based sandwich. Dead short technology has been around way too long for there to be issues related to electrical reliability. I believe user care and the design which eliminates the potential to contaminate the circuitry from normal use is far more important than brand name on such a basic appliance. I wrote this review because I would buy it again for the same price, even if it fails within a few years. Why? Because it would most likely be my fault if it fails. For the small price compared to the drive -thru alternative, my break even is less than 10 trips to the clown show. UPDATE 11/2025 I have been enjoying this sandwich maker for a long time now, and I still find it to be as good today as the first day I used it. I mentioned above, that this brand leaves some questions, but at this point, it is a slam dunk. I have never had a problem with it, it has performed flawlessly, it is a great value and I just love it. Initially, I figured there were enough videos out there to explain all the features and functions, but after some time, I have learned a few things to share with all of you. Mainly, the incorporation of a wi-fi enabled outlet as shown in my video is a great way to ad a timer/switch to my/your routine. I set the outlet for 8-10 minutes, depending on what is in my sandwich, and initiate that process 10 minutes or so from the time I want to eat my breakfast. I prepare all of it the night before, usually with a frozen sausage patty to keep things cool overnight. I get up and go through my routine, and by the time it's all said and done, I am showered, have my coffee in hand, and my breakfast ready to go. This is such a time saver, and very reliable, that I have put a lot of effort into this review for your convenience and understanding, so you too, may enjoy such a wonderful appliance. I hope my pics and video helped you to undderstand in real life, what you are shopping for😀 I am very happy with this product and highly recommend it 😎 I sure hope you found this a help. Thanks👍🏼

One of the best pieces of kitchen equipment ever
My wife got me this as a present. We often have friends/family over and need to make breakfast for a crowd. I thought it was a little gimmicky at first, but it has become one of my goto pieces of kitchen equipment! We love it so much we have started buying them as gifts. Ease of use is the best part, paired with the fact that you can make sandwiches with any ingredients you like! Had a friend over with celiacs (so no gluten), and could just take the ring and press into some gluten free bread to make a piece the right size. Have not had any problems with it, and it's easy to use and clean. Only tricky part is if you don't want your eggs well done - you have to time it just right. A little less time and put the bun on the top a little later.

How easy!
Works better than expected and is very easy to clean. Just follow the simple instructions, sandwiches are hot and well cooked. Use care when handling hot surfaces after cooking as instructions warn.

So close. Only 4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
At any time of day, I really enjoy eating foods that are labeled as breakfast foods. Hot breakfast foods can be very satisfying. They can be good for you depending on the ingredients, too! When I saw the Hamilton Beach Dual Breakfast Sandwich Maker on a ‘Reel’, I had to check it out. I was sold after a few hours with my usual excessive research, the only thing I had to really chose was did I want the single or the double sandwich maker? After a few minutes I decided to go with the dual unit. After all, I can make just one depending on my appetite and for a few more bucks it’s worth the investment. Besides, the price of going out to grab some breakfast is not as ‘cost effective’ as it used to be (and there is no need to crawl of out of the house after getting dressed, etc. etc. etc.). After the first use, I was certain I did not make a mistake. I can use the ingredients that I want instead of what they use at a restaurant or deli, which who knows what that could be. VERY easy to use. Just plug it in, and it starts warming automatically without turning on any switches. The preheating time is quick (about 3 minutes), which gives me time to get the ingredients ready to go. Pop the ingredients in the maker, set it for 5 minutes, and VIOLA! Breakfast is ready!!! (During my research I noted a few complaints about the raw egg flowing out of the sides. The reason for preheating is so the egg white starts to cook right away, thus sealing the edges.) Cleaning is simple. Wash the doodad that hold the ingredients in place and wipe down the heating surfaces with soapy water & rinse. Easy peasy. My favorite part about this is that I don’t have to cook over the stove and have to wait for the toaster to pop up. Basically, it’s a set & forget for whatever cook time is chosen (the unit continues to heat until its unplugged, so please do not totally forget it). The reasons I am only giving it 4.5 stars is for a few design flaws. #1. The cord is too short. It’s only 2 feet long, and I don’t have a ton of outlets & counterspace in my kitchen. Adding a foot or 2 would be preferable. #2. No place to wrap the cord when not in use. Perhaps placing notches on the back 2 feet would solve this issue. (I will say that there are very few appliances have a place to store the cord.) #3. No on/off switch/button. The first time I used it, I was so excited to eat breakfast from my new contraption, it wasn’t until I was done with breakfast that I realized that the unit was continuing to heat. Now that I know this, I unplug the unit when the sandwiches are done. Perhaps when the timer goes off the unit turns off at that time as well would be a solution. #4. As easy as it is to cleanup the heating surfaces, it would’ve been nice if these plates were removable so they can be taken off for a thorough washing & drying. I have another appliance that has removable plates which makes it nice to clean. I plan on getting some Silpat silicone mats and cutting a couple of customized mats to rectify this situation. 35. No cookbook, not even a pamphlet for recipes. My cooking skills are basically ‘That tastes good, lets add this, that & the other stuff’ type. I am always looking for new ideas & suggestions. The Hamilton Beach website does not have a simple ‘click here’ for recipes, which could be very helpful for their customers. All-in-all, I am very happy with this purchase. The issues are minimal, and breakfast is always tasty! If you’re on the fence about this and are hesitating, ask yourself a couple of questions: You like hot breakfast foods? You like to not have to crawl out of the house to grab breakfast (or meal)? You like saving $$$ by making it yourself? If you answered yes to at least 2 of these questions, buy the Hamilton Dual (or single if that’s all you need) Breakfast Sandwich Maker. I think you’ll be glad you did. Have a Great Day!

WONDERFUL!
I really appreciated the video reviews with their personal recipes, and it sold me on this unit! I've been making my husband and myself breakfast sandwiches about 3-4 times or week! The eggs and cheese are the easy part. But I had to try several types of meat until I finally found the perfect one! Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage (in the roll) either the HOT or the MAPLE. Each are equally delicious. Here's the key: I cut the roll into 4 equal portions, using 1 portion for each breakfast sausage. When they're cooked up, they're the same size in diameter as the English Muffin. Every bite has meat! Of course, you need to thoroughly cook the patty. I flatten out the sausage portion bigger than size of the sandwich receptacle because the sausage shrinks a bit. I heat my cast iron pan to hot, add a little Graza "Sizzle" Extra Virgin Olive oil, then add my two patties, letting them get a nicely browned crust, flip and let the order size get a crust, lower the heat and let then finish cooking through. In the meantime, I butter the outsides of my thin sliced English muffins. Heat the breakfast sausage maker until the light turns green. Now add: the muffin half, buttered side down, the cheddar cheese, the hot sausage patty, then the beaten egg, with salt, pepper to taste, then lay a slice of pepper jack cheese on top of the beaten egg, then top it with the other half of the buttered muffin. I set the the timer for 4.5 min. BTW, the purpose of the buttered muffins laying butter side down is because it creates slightly crispy outsides. The extra cheese laying on top of the beaten eggs does melt real nice, too. I break each cheese slice into 4 pieces so that it doesn't touch the metal ring. This breakfast sandwich makes more of a mess in the unit, so the little units will need to be (easily) removed, soaked in soapy water, and cleaned thoroughly, but it's worth the extra cleanup. In place of the cheese on top of the beaten eggs, I've added finely chopped red & green bell peppers, and that's a nice change of flavor. Still very delicious!

You don't need this, but if you like English muffin and egg sandwiches you'll be glad you have it!
My first reaction to seeing this product was "they sorta went overboard on this", i.e., why design it do make the entire sandwich when the meat has to be precooked anyway ... it seemed to me that just cooking a pair of properly-sized eggs would be a big help, and would be a much simpler machine (although it wouldn't pre-melt the cheese). But my wife and I like breakfast sandwiches and this machine makes two at a time, which is better than using my tiny egg skillet, so I decided to give it a shot. After using it several times, my original reaction has been confirmed, but I'm still happy I have it, and I'm assigning 5 stars because it is a well-made product that performs exactly as advertised. As others have stated, I'm not a fan of the manufacturer's recommended process of plopping everything into the preheated machine (including placing the top of the English muffin onto the raw egg) and setting it to cook for 5 minutes. Rather, I prefer to cook just the egg for a while, and then add everything else. The total cook time is still 5 minutes, the upper muffin hasn't soaked up a bunch of the egg, and the cheese (which should be placed directly onto the lower muffin half, not on top of the meat!) is nicely melted without running off the sides of the sandwich. Cleanup is very easy, as advertised (if it wasn't, we would already have written this machine off and tossed it into a closet). The resulting food quality is quite good ... the muffins are a little chewy compared to toasting them, but it's a reasonable trade-off to get the cheese nicely melted and everything heated properly without getting out other appliances or pans.
