Phenomenal for the price!
Alright, so I'm a tech guy, love anything electronic! I have had CCTV cameras in my house for years. I've been using Swann wired cameras for the most part with mixed emotions. But running new wires to upgrade the system just didn't excite me. I had been looking at NEST cams since I have the smart Thermostats and Smoke/Carbon-monoxide detectors for a while, but the price is ridiculous! Plus your only option with them is cloud service (an additional cost). Then I spoke with a neighbor who sent me a screen shot from his YI camera. I must say, the quality was pretty impressive. So I bought a four pack for $119.00 with moderate expectations. Let me tell you I'm super impressed with the picture quality of these cameras. Set up is quick and easy. When I purchased them I had no idea they had audio as well. The audio quality is incredible, plus it's a two way speaker. Purchased 32 GB SD cards for all of them so I didn't need to use cloud storage and it's been working great! I have them set to record all motion and I usually have about 7 days of history on each camera. Day and night vision are both spectacular IMO. I have attached several photos so you can see the quality both day and night. Side note, I have a couple "indoor cams" mounted outside. To do this I purchased a rubber sleeve/cover from Amazon to make the drop cam weather resistant for outdoor application. It's been through rain, sleet and snow with out issue so far. Link to cover: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FD5XHMP/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 A couple cons, the power cable is sooooooo short. I had to purchased longer cables for a couple of my installs. No biggie, they are only a few dollars here on Amazon. The app for iOS is very functional, but it has no multi camera view which would be a nice option.

HORRIBLE SECURITY SYSTEM AND AN EVEN WORSE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE!!!!
UPDATE -- EVEN MORE ADS THAN BEFORE!! DO NOT PURCHASE THIS IF YOU WANT REAL SECURITY. NOW ADS POP UP WHEN YOU OPEN THE APP JUST TO LOOK AT WHAT ALARMA TRIGGERS YOU MAY HAVE. DO NOT PURCHASE. 1st of all.. this is a great security camera. The picture is clear.. and the audio is ok. I wish they were Wi-Fi.. because the plug is a bit bothersome and limiting. Ok.. here's the REAL problem. Although I did purchase the MMC cards for storage so I wouldn't need a subscription.. and this is where the problems began. Last night.. about 3 am.. I was alerted that someone was 1st in my driveway and then at my back door. When I went to look at the camera.. I couldn't.. AT LEAST NOT FOR 60 SECONDS. If you don't purchase the subscription - non descript ads for online games, non descript home items, dating sites, and even some in japanese.. will PLAY before you can get to view your camera!! WHAT??!! Somebody is possibly breaking in and I'm trying to shut down random ads?!! How is this a good idea??!! Im okay with banner ads on the top and bottom of the screen.. but preventing a homeowner from viewing their security camera??!! UNBELIEVABLE. I have to add.. these full screen pop up ads didnt start until AFTER I purchased the MMC cards. Is this even legal?? Ads preventing me from seeing if somone is trying to break into my home??!! I HATE THIS APP NOW. I HATE THESE CAMERAS. IF YOU DON'T PURCHASE THE SUBSCRIPTION YOU PAY FOR IT BY RISKING YOUR SAFETY BECAUSE YOU CAN'T SEE YOUR SECURITY CAMERAS WHEN AN ALERT COMES ACROSS YOUR SCREEN. PURCHASE WITH CAUTION! I purchased 2 more when I bought the MMC cards. I WILL BE RETURNING THEM.. I CAN'T GO THROUGH THIS NON SENSE WITH NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE WHATS GOING ON WHILE TRYING TO CONTINUE TO SITE. THE ADS STILL PLAY. HORRIBLE. OUR ALARM WAS TRIGGERED AS THIS IS ONE OF THE ADS I AM FORCED TO WATCH TO SEE WHO IS TRYING TO BREAK INTO OUR HOME OR STEAL OUR CAR!

Excellent 1st system
If you are starting out with a home/office surveillance system, you definitely want to try these out. They work as advertised and you do NOT need a cloud subscription if you wish for simple surveillance; you'll want the cloud option if you wish to keep recordings for a long time. The iOS//Android app works as advertised. The Windows-based application is what you really need for your home as it will let you display a matrix of a 9-panel view. That's right, y ou can permanently display a nine-camera view to actively monitor your areas. You can have up to TWELVE (12) cameras under a single account. This works perfectly for home or small office environments. The PC-based app allows you to display a 9-panel matrix view of the cameras; awsome feature. With THAT summary out of the way, here is what you'll need to know: I'd suggest you do NOT buy the dedicated outdoor version of this camera if you need secrecy; the dedicated outdoor version of these cameras have their IR bulbs glow red. This makes them visible to humans and lets everybody know where you cameras are. If you are looking for discreet outdoor placement of your cameras (for security reasons one would think you WOULD be) then purchase the interior 4-pack; the interior cameras do not have their IR LEDs glow red. (See attached picture) (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CW4CEMS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) Then, follow up with the purchase of an outdoor case for each: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078MXH7WZ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 You can spray paint each one to "fit" the color of your house (which'll make them even more discreet and provide additional resistance to the elements. The best part of these little cameras is that with the use of a simple 25ft USB cable extension, you can place these cameras almost anywhere around your house (since they only need the standard 5v input) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0763358FV/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Oh, and if you need additional range, these little gems are "Americas Choice" for a reason: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0195Y0A42/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I have implemented all of the above to put together a very simple and inexpensive surveillance system for a typical suburban location. See attached video for quality sample. Take a look at the above 4 links and you're creative mind will lead you to the rest. Remember that, like the military, you'll want "fields of fire" coverage so plan your installation to have each camera "cover" part of the area that another camera is "covering". With the ability to have 12 cameras on a single account, you'll be able to cover your entire exterior area. I'd also suggest this little gem for your car. It is inexpensive, works at night, has a microphone that you can enable & disable, and with the included 3M sticker, the mount does NOT fail in hot weather: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078MXH7WZ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Good luck and have fund. Remember that a simple system like this is better than NO system at all AND it gives you peace of mind.

Mostly good camera with a few flaws
I bought these cameras because I have a puppy that I am training for puppy manners and to potty outside. He's a German Shepherd and is ... too smart. He has found if outside conditions aren't to his liking, he'll quickly pee outside, come back inside, quietly sneak away to a blind area, and return like nothing ever happened (only for me to find the blind area in my socks later). He also likes to cut his teeth in on boxes and tennis shoes. So, I bought these cameras, aimed them at the floor towards his favorite spots, and set the motion detection alarms. That works beautifully. I set up a chime specifically for the cameras on my phone separate from my other indicators so I can pounce. I would say set up was easy but there was one hiccup- the package gives a QR code for a Chinese App Version which will not allow you to register. You have to go into the app store and find the Yi Home American version. Once you do that, set up is a breeze. The other take away is that their cloud storage is rather pricey. You can record to a SD card, however, but without a memory card, it only gives you 6 seconds of playback. Fortunately for me, I just need the extra set of eyes and tattletale alerts and so far, it's working and helping me catch him before he makes my carpet his second bathroom. The picture quality is surprisingly good. I can zoom in and read the print on the side of a box. It automatically switches to night vision and the picture quality is pretty good. I can screenshot images as well. Last (but not least) I am sure my dog thinks I have omniscient powers in that my disembodied voice can speak to him through the cameras. Cheap, effective, works as advertised with drawbacks being pricey subscription for cloud storage and no included material that is region specific for set up (had to waste time for experience and research about the US App Version).

I've been looking for something like this all my life!
I bought this security camera a couple of months ago and when it came I quickly unboxed to find everything wrapped nicely and securely. Set up was very easy, I downloaded the app on my iPad and barely skimmed the manual, plugged the camera in, connected to wifi, and voila! I bought the 4 pack and placed them in my living room, kitchen, back door etc. This camera has given me a peace of mind when I am away from home. Once I went on a holiday for 4 days and hired someone to cat-sit. Found out through the camera that the person didn't even come the first day to feed my cats, my heart was broken looking at them roaming around looking for food and hearing them meow hungrily (you can hear what's going on at home and in turn you can speak through the app's intercom). After realizing the cat-sitter probably wasn't going to show up that day and it was already dinnertime, I called a friend up who immediately came. She fed and pampered my cats. So at least my cats were fed dinner that day. And I saw through the camera the cat-sitter came the day after that and looked confused as to why the food bowl was full. There are numerous examples in the past two months alone, since I have used these cameras, that they have proved to be life-saving. And it brings the family closer too, my sister sometimes go out of town and we can talk easily whenever she wants to just by accessing the app and locating us in the kitchen for example. Or we use it to check up on what my mom's up to, say cleaning the living room . It's so convenient having them around the house. I have positioned one of the cameras to face outside of my window, so I can see who comes to the house, I have attached a video for you to see. I am so happy with this camera. I bought sd cards for each of them. I do however have suggestions to improve the camera function. If Yi cam developers are reading, my suggestions are below: 1. Have an option so the camera can continuously record everything, second to second, onto the sd card, not only when there are movements within the confines of activity region which we have set. Because there was a time I've set the activity region but I realized later that there were areas outside the square that I wanted to see too, but not all the time. Maybe they can send notifications when there are movements within the activity region but everything else is fully recorded anyway if we need to go back and see everything minute to minute. 2. The activity region square (there's this square shape which you can enlarge or reduce its size, to mark where exactly you want to be alerted of movements, instead of being alerted by any movement in a certain room). Anyway, the activity region square should be more flexible, I would like it to sometimes be diagonal, as I would like it to avoid a certain door or staircase. So maybe you guys can make the shape of the activity region more malleable (lol lack of a better word to explain), instead of being just flat square. Other than that, a massive THANK YOU for making this product and being so kind as to not have it compulsory that we subscribe to your cloud. Forever grateful.

These Little Guys Do the Job!
I have purchased dozens of security cams over the years and FINALLY, someone got it right. These little guys do the job and for the money it's a no-brainer. I have purchased over 15 of these cameras for 3 different properties. I also use "Frienda Wall Mount Bracket" for outdoor use with direct rain exposure with no failures. I have several mounted outside under the eave of the roof so that it does not get rained on and they work great with no housing whatsoever. I also use the Fuji 32GB card so that I have full playback surrounding any alert (or can record continuously). The app is very intuitive and easy to review the highlights. In the attached video from house we have on the market, this scumbag actually broke in and stole all 5 cameras (1 inside and 4 outside), so I did not have access to the detailed footage. However, this is the 6 second clip from the alert, which is the free cloud service that comes with the camera. Given the price of the cameras, it was very inexpensive to replace them all and I have. This time, with the 24x7 cloud service so that the video is preserved even if the cameras are taken. The video quality of the alert is not HD, but the live view and the recorded view on the card is full HD. Also, the sound is surprisingly clear for such an inexpensive camera. Some of the units are better than others and there is some interference in the sound on some of them. But generally pretty good. The night vision is pretty good considering the price point. The motion detection is my only complaint. I get a lot of false alarms for even a small bug flying by, even with sensitivity set at the lowest level. But this is manageable. The sound detection is not much use to me since I have no crying babies in my application. It would be nice if they had an option for other sound detection. The installation is quick and easy and I have installed on several configurations of wifi and routers without a problem. The app is better than any I have worked with in the past. This is a big deal. If it is cumbersome or time consuming to look at the footage, then you won't do it. The way they implemented the app is very intuitive and easy to navigate. I also have the app installed on my Mac and Finally, I give Yi high marks for the business model. A lot of companies try to gouge you on the cloud service by providing an inferior non-cloud service. Yi gives you a choice. You get a free "alert only for 7 day look-back" at no charge. So you don't even need a memory card for this. If you want to upgrade to a cloud service, they have a lot of options so you can pick what you want at a reasonable price. Or, you can use the card solution with up to 32GB capacity, which, depending motion settings and the amount of motion, could last for days or even months. I get about 2 weeks in most of my applications. But, as in the case of my video example, this comes at a risk of losing footage if the scumbag makes off with the cam. But the user has the choice, which is what I like. Bottom line: I HIGHLY recommend this product.

UPDATED: dead.
UPDATE 5/2023 I contacted support because cloud wasn’t working and they informed me my cameras had an abnormal anomaly. Over the course of trouble shooting for a couple weeks, they asked for my details to ship me different cameras. Another couple weeks and they instructed me to ship the cameras back to them directly and only then would they provide replacements. Bad customer service, unreliable cameras, and monthly cloud service of $15. No thanks. Pay for what you get. Overview: The Yi WiFi Camera promises to deliver high-quality video surveillance and easy cloud connectivity for a seamless security experience. On paper, it seems like an ideal solution for homeowners and small businesses alike. However, during my time testing this camera, I faced several challenges that significantly impacted its overall performance. Difficulties with Cloud Connectivity: The first issue I encountered was connecting the camera to the cloud service. The setup process was frustratingly convoluted, with unclear instructions and multiple failed attempts. Even after successfully connecting, I experienced frequent disconnections, which meant that I couldn't reliably access the camera feed or receive alerts when motion was detected. This is a significant drawback since one of the main selling points of the Yi WiFi Camera is its cloud connectivity. Users should be able to trust that their security footage is being saved and can be accessed remotely whenever needed. Unfortunately, the inconsistent connection made this feature unreliable and difficult to use. Spotty Video Quality: Another disappointment was the video quality. While the camera is advertised to provide clear and detailed footage, I found the video to be spotty and inconsistent. Even in ideal lighting conditions, the image would often appear pixelated, making it difficult to discern details such as facial features or license plate numbers. At night, the camera's performance was even worse. The infrared night vision struggled to provide a clear image, and I experienced significant lag when trying to view the live feed. This severely hinders the camera's effectiveness as a security device since being able to identify potential intruders or suspicious activity is crucial. Dependability Concerns: Given the issues I encountered with cloud connectivity and video quality, I found the Yi WiFi Camera to be generally unreliable as a security solution. Consistent performance is essential for any security system, and the camera's shortcomings make it difficult to trust that it will capture and store critical footage when needed. Conclusion: While the Yi WiFi Camera has an attractive price point and some interesting features, the issues I faced with cloud connectivity and video quality make it difficult for me to recommend this product. For those in search of a dependable security camera, it may be worth exploring other options on the market that offer a more reliable and consistent performance.

Awsome Home Camera System !
I bought this camera system after a co-worker showed me his system and how it works from his phone using an App that you download. Amazon wants me to rate it on picture quality, sound quality and durability. The durability will come over time but the rest I will rate as of now. I LOVE THIS CAMERA SYSTEM ! I have only had it a couple weeks, but the things I use it for it does an outstanding job for me. I have 4 cameras, one set up in my garage, one in my living room, one in my hallway and one in a bedroom that points out a window towards my driveway and my porch. I can see everyone pulling in my 200 foot driveway and everyone coming up to my front door. I can watch my dogs outside in my front yard because of the wide angle it has. I put Micro SD Cards in each camera and I can view anything that goes on in my house no matter what time of day it happened. My Chihuahua puppy was playing with and chasing one of our cats up and down our hallway and through our living room. My wife told me about what time it happened and I was able to go to one of the cameras I have set up and watch and hear the action on my Samsung smartphone using the installed Yi Application. It was just as if I was there when it happened. I can see, hear and talk through the cameras by using the Yi Application that is free to download to your phone. It is so easy to set up and operate because the voice on the camera walks you through the setup. The only" hiccup" to speak of was my mistake because I didn't know my router well enough. During setup the voice coming from the camera said that my WI- Fi was not supported !?. My router has 5G capability for my computer which is what I was connected to using my smartphone for everyday use and games etc. When I set my phone to connect to the other, I guess slower(?) Wi FI, it connected right away. There are alert settings and other stuff that's on these cameras that I am not electronically savvy enough to figure out yet, but they are well worth the money. No more turning around to go back home just to see if the garage door went down or not !! LOL..Now who hasn't done that before..duh.. I hope this review helps someone out ...
