The Finest Paint I Have Ever Experienced--Fantastic!
This paint is fantastic for painting any kind of indoor or outdoor ironwork. It paints right over rusted metal without the need of a primer and leaves a fantastic glistening coating that has an unusual but wonderful texture effect. I don't know how they do it but we love it for painting porch or balcony wrought iron, security bars, front-porch benches, interior iron-work, etc. The color is fantastic and better looking than the sprayed-on thing of the same color. This is the paint and I have re-bought it now two more times. You must be quick, however, as it is fast drying and you need to be through painting within 4 hours or wait a full week for tough-up, etc. One coat is all I ever needed painting over black or bronze ironwork. It goes on thick and covers well in one coat. Just keep the used paint brushes in a plastic baggie in the freezer and you can use them again with the next item to be painted! You get a $200.00 paint job with a $20.00 can of paint!

Worked great for fixing up our stairs
When we got our house, the previous owner had painted the stair railing, but I guess he got tired or lazy because he stopped partway up and so we had 2 or 3 different colors on our stairs (and all badly painted, so there were drip marks and all kinds of other unsightly things). So we decided to paint the stair railings, and I chose this paint because of the good reviews. I also thought that the hammered finish would cover up the unsightly texture underneath. We did a light sanding and cleaned the stairs well and then got to work. It took two coats and a lot of ventilation (it really smelled for 3-4 days, even though we left the door open for long periods of time and had fans blowing the air out). It came out great - we are very happy with the results! It was pretty easy to put on - follow the directions and you'll be fine. We were a bit worried at first that there were areas that didn't seem to go on smoothly, but it evened out on it's own and at the end of the second coat it looks like a strong, durable finish. I am very happy and the stairs look lovely now.

Awesome finish for cast iron tub, strong smell though!
I used this to paint an antique cast iron tub in the house we just bought. The tub was a dirty, yellowish color with a rough outside that had some rust. This paint is amazing. The black looks excellent and the hammered finish covers any surface imperfections and instead makes it look chic and custom, and new! Dont backbrush, i used a brush to paint and there are no stroke marks. Just use a good amount on your brush and work in small sections brushing in one direction, or you won't get the hammered texture. Also, do the two coats! The texture and coverage is amazing after two coats so don't get discouraged if it looks wonky after only one coat. Plus the dry time between coats is only 30 mins. I waited 45 because i needed a break from the fumes. The only reason i gave 4/5 stars is the fumes are gnarly so do yourself a favor and make sure you have proper ventilation!! Open windows, fans, etc or do outside if you can. I finished two hours ago and even with the bathroom fan on and window wide open its brutal in there. I put bowls of baking soda and bowls of vinegar in there to absorb the smell and it has taken the edge off. Amazing paint. It has a semi gloss sheen to it when it dries and dries dark black even though the liquid paibt looks gun metal grey before applying. It also thickens up so put the lid back on and work from a paint cup, keep your brush moist with paint or it will dry out and be useless. I also had to throw out my brushes after so don't use expensive fancy brushes if that bothers you. This paint gave my antique cast iron tub new life and an awesome country rustic chic vibe, while protecting it against rust. Oh and it only took half this little can to do two coats on the tub, bonus!!

Nice color for my shop tables.
I’ve been using this color on my shop tables for awhile and when I decided to make a new project table I went and picked up some more of this color. It seems right now like this silver is harder to find then the other hammered options. I’m happy with the looks and past performance. I took the time to refresh my other tables since I was painting the new one.

Color (BROWN) is not as the shown "oil-rubbed bronze" (a bit darker than chocolate milk with mettalic). Still 5-stars. [Photo]
Please note the 5-star rating I gave this item - the color is still very pretty. I just painted a metal fence with it. If you notice that this review is a year or so old, send me a comment, I will tell you how it holds up in the Southern California sun. I used a 3/4-inch nap roller to put it on. Worked beautifully. I don't know why the product description on Amazon says that two coats are needed. The can does not say that. But I did that anyway. What the can does say is that a second coat may be applied withing 4 hours (but wait about 30 minutes for the surface of the first coat to feel dry) or if not within 4 hours then only after 7 days. I did two coats. The hammered finish is really tiny spots on the paint surface - not really noticeable on the railing but may be more noticeable on an area of larger flat surface. The color BROWN is much lighter than the Amazon picture shows (accurately - it's the same on the actual can). The picture shows almost an oiled-rubbed bronze (venetian bronze) color. It's not. It's like a shade or two darker than chocolate milk but with a hint of metallic in it. Especially in the sun it looks light colored. Still I like the color. However, if you are very particular about it, I suggest spot testing it before doing the whole thing to see if you like it. It only takes 30 minutes to dry to give you a very good idea of what the final color would be. UPDATE: I painted something else in the backyard with it (a metal door under a built-in gas bbq grill) and this time I took a photo of the can with some paint spilling over the label where it says "Brown" so you can see the actual difference of the colors (everyone's monitors are different so this should help to see both colors at the same time and be able to have a point of reference). The over-spilled paint is dry at the time of the photo. You will also notice the texture on the metal door. It was smooth black (with pretty "decorative" rust spots :) ) before. Note though that although I used a 1/2-inch nap roller (not a 3/4" nap this time) and there are only two coats (as recommended), it probably is still much thicker than it should have been - i.e. I should have used a smooth surface foam roller, I guess. Or a wide foam brush. Still, it looks fine in reality and I am leaving the 5-star rating. Another note - you do need to drop your perfectionist attitude for 30 minutes at a time as there is no going back "to just fix this a little bit" until it dries to touch in 30 minutes. I mean if you try a minute later to go back to where it's still wet and fix that tiny missed spot, it will be like painting with the "Liquid Nails" glue - your roller will literally get glued to it and it will start becoming a mess (ask me how I know).

Old table brought back to life
I first used the rustoleum spray can of this same paint on our outside aluminum patio furniture. I must say that it definitely made the set look so much better after having weathered finish for so long. But after about 2 years, this paint also started to fade heavily. Since the local stores didn't have the can version of this paint, I ordered from Amazon. Well, let me tell you, after painting just the top of the table, what a difference. Again, I used the spray on some of the other parts, but when using a brush and applying from the can, the look and feel are so much better. You can tell that this will hold up so much better than the spray version. Even the hammered look is more pronounced. If you have old outside furniture that just doesn't have the look appeal anymore, I definitly recommend trying this out. It will bring everything back to life.
