Works great
The Total Control 1/2 x 1/8 Black Hi Temp BBQ smoker Gasket is a nice quality gasket to help seal up a BBQ grill or as a replacement gasket for a smoker. The material is felt like and it's adhesive seems to work securely when placed. I've used this to help seal up a charcoal BBQ grill whose lid is completely metal to metal contact. The gasket has successfully sealed up the grill leaving only minimal smoke to escape. I would make sure that the surface is completely clean to ensure good adhesion. I recommend placing on the grill when new or close to it as any build up is difficult to remove. Overall, works great!

This product really helped tighten up my WSM!
So far this gasket does what it advertises. With the 22" WSM I was able to apply the gasket to the lip where the dome lid rests and also apply it twice to the body where the door rests with some material left over. It was a real PITA to clean up the body to adhere the gasket, but that's not any fault of the product. I did this as best I could and it seemed to adhere very securely and it wasn't really a challenge to apply it effectively. My first smoke session after installing the gasket really impressed me. No more smoke leaking out all over the place and controlling the temps was MUCH easier. No longer having a hard time keeping the temp under 250 when desired due to excess air being pulled in. My only concern is if/when the gaskets need to be replaced, it will be a real challenge getting the old ones off. Aside from that (which is yet to be seen), I'd happily purchase this again.

Tricky at first
Worked to slow the escape of smoke from my pellet grill. It was really difficult to take the paper apart from the sticky back without tearing the sticky off of the gasket material. Once I was able to figure that out it went pretty well. It definitely works. Kept much more smoke inside the grill.

Good gasket material
Added to the lid of my new PitBoss 820. I noticed when I did the initial burn off there was smoke leaking in a few areas around the door. This was ordered and it is just what I needed. Not sure about the reviews saying it does not stick. I let my grill out in the sun so it was warm, then washed the perimeter of the lid with hot soapy water and then I wiped it off with clean water. Finally, I wiped it down with 91% alcohol. The backing is super sticky and I can tell you it ain’t going anywhere. It applied easily and the black gasket blends right in. Hopefully it lasts a long time, I will update if something changes. Overall, I recommend for price and quality. Happy grilling y’all!

Sealed my smoker
I read the reviews just like you are doing now. It does stick very well and works very well...if you do it right from the start. Don't get in a hurry, slap it on and go smoking. Clean your area first!! I used another way to seal the smoker and it did not work. So mine is 2 years old and been used a lot! So I took blue dawn and a green scratch pad and cleaned the lip areas and cleaned and cleaned and cleaned. You are getting my point. I let it dry completely...for hours! Once completely clean and dried I applied the seal. I only cut through the seal not the plastic. I unrolled short sections and applied apx 6 inches at a time to make sure it was straight. I waited 24 hrs to cure and MAGIC. My smoker door and fire box door leaks no smoke. You get in a hurry and don't clean properly you will be disappointed. Do it right the first time and you won't have to do it again. If it's a brand new smoker you are ahead of the ball game.

Stuck well, sealed the smoker door
I was given a hand me down upright charcoal smoker by my neighbor in return for the promise of some smoked salmon. It sat in his garage basically unused, still in basically new shape. Upright, charcoal style with 2 doors, lower for charcoal/ chips & water pan, upper for food. Decent simple design, but inexpensive sheet metal and on the first use, the upper doors leaked badly. Too much draft so too much heat (impossible to control airflow to the charcoal to keep it burning slowly and cool) and the smoke from the chips just seeped out. Good surface prep, degreased the door seal area with Simple Green followed by several wipes with rubbing alcohol to get it back to clean paint and no chicken grease. The crack and peel backing came off without issue, the gasket stuck in place really well (so far, we'll see over time). The adhesive on it is VERY sticky, once it's on, it's on. Don't bother trying to pull it off, you'll just tear it. The material it's made of feels like loosely woven felt, very soft. Fiberglass? Rockwool? Anyway, I modded the door handle closure (bent it) so it really cinches the door tight and gave it a test run. Voila, zero smoke leaked from around the door, much more controllable and the smoke stayed inside doing its job. If it fails or comes off in an unreasonable amount of time, I'll edit my review.

As described, so it did what I expected
Review is 1 yr. Bought this gasket because of the high temp claims and it was felt. I was looking to MOD my new VICTORY 35 pellet smoker. Read the remarks that it did not stick well, so I cleaned the lid areas with parts cleaner and then applied. After one year I can say that it did come loose in a couple of areas but I had enough left on the roll to just replace as needed. I'm a Novice backyard cooker, so I don't do a lot of smoking. I live in NE Texas, so I do have more months available than say northern states. Smokes in the summer are subject to ambient temps of 100+ a couple of months a yr. and I don't smoke above 300 degrees. The CONS would be that the packing received on the last two purchases has been different, but the product seems to be the same for quality and durability. TIP: Use PERMATEX gasket instead. Sticks well and last a long time.

This was super easy to apply to my smoker and immediately made a big difference in the smoke escaping around the door

No issues with the adhesive, as per some of the other reviews. Seems to be holding up really well, even with the high temps of the fire box. Had just enough to seal both doors, between the firebox and the cooking chamber, and also between the top and bottom of the firebox on my smoker. My only complaint is how fiddly it is to peel the back off the gasket - will definitely purchase again (if I even need to).

I stuck the gasket on the lid of my Weber kettle 22inch. The smoke leak was reduced to 90% when I noticed the lid was not properly resting on the base. Fixing it sealed the grill completely with smoke only coming of the vents. Grill is holding temperature better and briquettes are lasting longer. Note this observation is just from the 1st cook after putting the gasket on. I will update the review as needed.

It worked to seal up my 22" weber kettle that is a little warped and 10 years old. Makes it easier to keep a steady temp when smoking meat on it.
