great replacment filter
I don't normally use the stock filters so I cannot compare this to the stock unit but I have used many different filters over the years. This is a good replacement unit, fit the air box perfectly and has held up to use. Fram has done a really good job on the edge sealing surface, and is made out of a good quality material. The one thing I don't like about this filter is that the center ridge is meant to support the center of the filter (I assume in case it gets damp) but it is not very strong (like a thick bead of hot glue). Then again this is a disposable filter so it is not meant to last forever and I did not see any real deviation when I replaced it last time. I have a permanent washable filter (K&N) in another car and it works well as a performance filter and adds a nice sound to the intake but I fear that finer particles might get by and would not use on a daily driver. Newer cars have finer tolerances and need really clean air and oil (especially ones with timing chains) so I prefer a good quality paper one even if they are a bit more restrictive.
