Cat Tarot: 78 Cards & Guidebook

I ordered this deck a few days ago not certain of what to expect, but Cat Tarot has quickly become a favorite. I don't own a lot of fluffy decks, my tastes are usually more esoteric, and I'm not one of those old cat ladies who live down the street swilling tea and knitting booties for her feline pets, either. But this deck is amazing. The packaging is awesome, the little white book is a little purple book, the card stock is high quality, the backs are beautiful, and the cattization of familiar RWS-format cards is both witty and wise. The Megan Lynn Kott's beautiful artwork and Julia Smillie's narration of the booklet make an excellent pairing. The box is too cute to be believed. I am shocked more people haven't bought/reviewed this deck. (Then again, I have heard of some people trying to order it but learning it would take 1-2 months to ship? I didn't have that problem a few days ago). I hope they are back in plentiful stock soon. Note to parents whose children are always wanting to play with your tarot cards: this deck would be an awesome gift for a young learner. There is no nudity or frightening imagery in these whimsical cards. They are sure to delight people of all ages and experience levels.

I really love this deck, it’s so cute. The cards feel good in my hands and they shuffle very very well. These cards have held up well. Very fun and colorful deck, great for any cat lovers!

I bought this for the cute factor and because I'm at the level of tarot geekery where I like to do periodic readings for my cats (attaching an image of the pet spread I usually use from tarotfoundation.com for anyone interested, it pairs perfectly with this deck). Like someone else here, I usually prefer more "serious" decks to read for myself, so I did not expect to use them for that purpose. However, I actually found these cards surprisingly clever in their twists on traditional imagery-- for example, Death being portrayed as a vacuum cleaner is a cute cat joke, sure, but it's also a pretty good metaphor for what the Death card typically means in a reading-- a perhaps frightening but usually necessary transformation / clearing. There are other hidden gems like that as you go through and compare with traditional imagery and meanings. The one drawback I should note is that it's not always super clear which suit the pip cards are indicating-- there are little symbols in the corner to remind you but I had some trouble remembering what symbol was which. This didn't bother me too much as I think part of the fun of a new deck is the fresh perspective it brings to intuitive readings, but it may throw some off a bit. All in all, this is a clever, friendly deck that I will definitely use far more often than I initially anticipated!

I am new to tarot and am still learning the meanings of each card. This deck was one of the ones that stood out to me in my browsing and I’m happy to have ordered it. The art is adorable and colorful while the guidebook is both informative and playfully written (with the cat theme in mind). Some of the cards don’t have names/words but symbols to depict what they are, which was a bit confusing at first but easy to catch onto once you read the descriptions in the book. They feel good to handle and shuffle. As I use this deck I will be reading other guidebooks as well so I can get a better grasp of how to use and interpret the cards. My cats also like to “help” my readings by batting at cards and knocking them off my desk 😅

I'm new to tarot, so I grabbed some cute looking cards that promised a guidebook. I love the artwork that the artist has done and I like their take on some of the cards. Helps the meaning stick a bit more (at least in my semi cat obsessed mind). All the cards have a lot of detail to them. I've shown 3 major arcana and 4 minor arcana cards that have come up in my readings and the cards made it easy to "get it" when I read the meanings and have studied the card meanings outside of this guide book. Would definitely recommend for the artwork alone and as a good starter deck for anyone interested in learning tarot.

The cards are cute and fun. They are not intuitive though. Though based on the RW set, there are some differences, and it's hard to read some of the cat emotions... but hey, they are cats. I know the cards, so should be able to figure them out. 1.) This is NOT a starter deck. It is a fun, party deck. If you know them well, you can read for others. 2.) The book, OMG, the print.... it... is...so.... tiny..... I am in my 40's and it takes all my effort to read this. I did read the reviews of others who said the same thing, but I thought, how small could the print be? Yep! It is SMALL! I'm sure if you are young or have good cheaters, it's no big deal. I'm looking for a PDF to download with print I can read. All in all, it's a fine set. Look on youtube for videos that take you through the cards and see if you connect with them. This will not be my go to deck, it will be my gimmick deck.
