If you want to drink fresh juice daily, a quart or two at a time, buy this juicer
I've been juicing for 50 years and over the years have owned and used most all well known juicers including those by Norwalk, Champion, Omega, Breville, etc. I bought this juicer for my daughter... for her birthday. Personally, I now own the Tribest Green Star Elite (great). I want her to consume fresh juice daily, was willing to give her my older Green Star 3000, but she turned me down. She did not want a bigger, more powerful juicer, including also a more involved juicing experience. She wanted a juicer that was small, easy to clean, efficiently juiced a quart or two of fresh juice, but still provided good yield on fruits and vegetables, including leafy greens. All while producing a fresh tasting juice that doesn't oxidize quickly and when quickly refrigerated will still stay fresh for a day or two. After I researched (a lot) of lower priced, less powerful juicers, I decided to get this low cost, smaller, less powerful juicer for her, also from Tribest. She loves it. Now she drinks fresh juice daily... and raves to me what a good job this juicer does on everything she's tried it on... and how delicious the juice tastes, while still being easy to clean. Mission accomplished. Since I juice (usually) 3-6 quarts of juice at a time, I'm now super happy with my Green Star Elite, but I'm actually thinking about getting myself one of these juicers also, for the road to pack in my bag, or even for when I just want a quart or so of juice without as much time commitment. Bottom line, if you want to consume fresh juice daily (great idea)... and are willing to limited your production to a quart or two at a time, buy this juicer. If on the other hand, you recognize that juicing will add years to your life, or in my case save my life (reversed Stage IV colon and liver cancer 19 years ago), are willing to also commit the time, then get the Green Star Elite. I've done a 100 day juice fast with my Green Star Elite... and wouldn't consider anything else for this level of juicing. But, for quick and easy juicing on a regular basis, without as much financial and time commitment... buy this juicer. I'm going to buy a second one (as I said) for me, too.

UPDATE: BROKE and plastic FLEW at MY FACE!
UPDATE: Today I heard a weird cracking sound and then.....Juice POURING out at the base of the container all down INTO the motor and all over my counter...and then...another crack and a piece of plastic from the locking area of the base container broke off and FLEW AT MY FACE just missing MY EYE!!!! WARNING!!!!! It really is easy. I did countless hours of research on reviews and watching videos to determine what to purchase that we would actually use in our home and made the right choice! This manufacturer of industrial strength $$$ juicing machines has done a real service for the occasional home user. Well we thought it would be occasional until we used it, its a commonly used appliance now :D We were seeking a balance between a juicer for greens and one for fruits and this has it. Kale comes out far better than I expected in a vertical machine (if you alternate the greens with a bit of carrot it does work faster) and it even does a nice job with just grapes and apples. The pulps are all fairly dry and what we don't make muffins or cakes with we gift to the birds, deer and rabbits here so nothing goes to waste. DO cut your celery into 1 or 1/2 inch pieces and you will be be happy with the results and NO I didn't remove the strings and it didn't clog the machine :D MOST important is either cleaning the screen immediately after use OR (lazy girl tip) put it into a sour cream container with warm water in it until after you have enjoyed or put your juices away and the pulp wont dry up and clog the wee little holes. This is a great choice as a wedding or housewarming or going off to college gift too as it doesn't take up a huge amount of counterspace and has a tiny learning curve unlike so so many complicated and super expensive juicers on today's

Working well after 3+ years
UPDATE 2/11/25: been using it when marionberries are available, about half the year here (they're now up to $17 for 2 pounds). I've made maybe 100 pints of sorbet, and it's always turned out incredibly good. Sometimes I run the pulp through again to get more juice out of this expensive fruit, with no issues. Still hand-wash, air-dry. It just chugs along like it always has -- not too noisy (much quieter than a blender or processor or citrus juicer). It gets only 3 stars overall from reviewers, I guess they have problems with it, but I'm happy enough with it and would buy it again. So it goes from 3 stars to 5 stars -- that's rare for me. ORIGINAL REVIEW first week October 2021: Got it today and used it - to juice 3 pounds of marionberries (like boysenberries only 10x better). That's the only reason I bought this juicer, and I had sent back another brand just last week. This one did a good job, and juicing blackberries and raspberries isn't the easiest thing for a juicer to do, for some reason, and I spent a very long time looking, asking the question repeatedly, "Does this juice blackberries and raspberries?" and got almost no definitive answers, just "I don't know, it's good for celery." Which seems to be everybody's favorite juice. I do know that my old Omega centrifugal juicer can't do this job at all - it prefers carrots. So anyway, I got 6 cups of juice from those 3 pounds of marionberries, including a quarter-cup from running the seeds-pulp through again. It went very quickly, much faster than putting them thru a blender to get puree, and then hand-straining the puree thru a fine sieve to get the seeds out - which wastes a lot of juice and is a pain in the butt, literally - usually takes me a good 30-45 minutes that seems much longer. This went in about 15 minutes, no straining (again, literally), and I got about 25% more juice than doing it by blender and hand. I can see though that using a juicer for this has its downside - disassembling everything, washing it, trying to dry it, re-assembling. (Though I didn't have problems cleaning the metal strainer - just used the faucet sprayer, but then it was only blackberry seeds, not fibers of whatever.) The instructions were very minimal, couldn't even find out if the parts could go in the dishwasher, which would make things much easier. Just says wash with warm water and soap. Doesn't say NOT to use the dishwasher...odd thing to leave out of the instructions, though I think the box might say the dishwasher is OK. The clear plastic parts in particular look like the kind that could get etched badly. The disassembly, washing and reassembly almost seems more trouble than it's worth, especially with marionberry juice getting all over the counter and sink and everything I touch in the process. Cleanup from the blender-strainer routine is much faster and simpler and cleaner - though our kitchen does have marionberry stains in the most unexpected places, this juice stains like crazy. Very rich dark purple. Also (why are my reviews always so long? sorry for that...) I'm very aware that about 15% of the reviews of this are 1-star, which gives me pause, especially when people say things like "it worked for a day/week/month and then stopped" or it cracked and blew apart, or leaked all over everything. I chose Tribest because from what I've read it's one of the better juice manufacturers, but this is their cheapest model, entry-level I guess. I can't justify spending huge amounts of money just to juice marionberries, which aren't even available for at least half the year anyway. I just hope this thing lasts and keeps working - it seems to be very well made, solid, heavy, tight, so I hope that's actually true. I'll update in a few weeks or if it breaks down, whichever comes first.

Great small juicer, reasonable price, works very well, easy to use
The Shine juicer is a great small juicer for a reasonable price compared to most quality slow juicers. I really like that it's small and doesn't take up much space. It fits under my cabinets fully assembled - compare footprint to a horizontal juicer. See photos. Being a vertical juicer it's really easy to feed veggies and fruit into the chute because the auger pulls everything in. Rarely did I have to use the pusher that is provided. That being said, many things must be sliced quite small. I saw a couple youtube videos demonstrating how to best use this particular juicer which helped a lot. I've used it exstensively for over 2 weeks and didn't have any problems juicing a wide variety of foods. Everything juiced well, hard vegetables and soft fruits, various greens, beans, celery, carrots, cabbage- everything I put into it, but I also always used a variety foods, alternating hard and soft, for each juice. The pulp came out dry. The juice wasn't overly frothy or pulpy but I did strain it with a sieve. My one complaint is that I find it challenging to clean the screen filter. It takes a lot of work to get the tiny holes completely cleaned. I suspect it's the pulp from limes that I used with almost every juice I made. I even tried using a different kitchen brush, which helped, but it's still takes me a lot of time- maybe 5 minutes on the screen alone. I'm thinking that will likely get old and I won't use it everyday. I do recommend it, especially for a casual juicer or someone with more patience to clean it or maybe it cleans better in a dishwasher- which I don't have. The Shine juicer works very well and is a great price.

As a starter juicer - start with this
Update: Had this for 4 months now. Live in a high rise condo, but now growing my own carrots, cucumber and ginger root on my terrace. I get bulk ground turmeric from Costco (judge me). Still the same simple juice. Juicer has not failed. Where I live I could be spending $8 a cup on the same simple juice daily at the local juicer at the base of my office. So in the words of a character in a not very well known but iconic Australian movie "The Castle" , "It's paid for itself". I do laugh and wonder at reviews that say the components break and fly plastic in their eyes. I don't doubt this has happened, but as an appliance, setting it up properly and carefully may limit this type of event. Yes I'm suspecting user error. Maybe garner a response. But I'm good. takes 5 min to prep and juice, 5 min to clean, and good for next time. I only put premium equipment in my kitchen and counter space is limited. It has to compete for daily premium space with the Vitamix blender, the Kitchen Aid stand mixer, the Rocket R58 espresso machine and the Mazzser coffee grinder. And I wasn't a juicer, but thought I need to get into this = just for the obvious health benefits. Did the research. Could have gone for the $2k machine, but decided on a basic starter. Had it for 3 months now. Make a fresh carrot, ginger root, cucumber and ground turmeric juice every second day - nothing extravagant. And wow! I don't see a need to upgrade any time soon. Easy to use, easy to clean, juice is delicious, pulp goes to compost. This machine has earned a permanent place on my counter top. And it doesn't take up that much space.

It does make decent juice
Let's get right to the important stuff: this machine, if properly assembled, will make a decent cup of juice with an acceptable amount of waste. In around 5 minutes, including chopping time, I was able to turn 2 medium sized beets, 3 medium carrots, and two large apples into about 14 ounces of juice. The juice had about 1/2 teaspoon of soft pulp in it, which I actually kind of liked. The pulp that was discarded was quite dry. Feeding the small chunks of produce into the juicer was kind of fun. So, where did the juicer loose points? First of all, it just doesn't seem to be really well built. The way the motor slows down when I drop in a chunk of produce, the way the auger was absolutely NOT coming out after I finished juicing (had to remove screen at same time, not the order the instructions indicate), the way the auger was chipped and scratched when I took it out of the box, the flimsy plastic nature of everything but the base...I just don't have faith in this thing standing the test of time. Secondly, this thing is a BEAST to clean. There are so many nooks and crannies for pulp to get stuck in, and when you use the included brush, bits of wet, staining pulp go everywhere. It is not fun at all and takes quite a while. In all, this seems like a "first juicer" kind of deal. My advice: if you already know you love juicing, and you're sure you want to commit to it, skip right to buying one of the high-end expensive units.

Started great, fell flat
I’ve had this juicer for about a year and was going to write a glowing review after the first couple of uses. I’m glad I waited as I literally just threw it out. It hasn’t worked well in months. When I first started using it, it would extract juice from fruit and veggies quickly and there was an equal juice output to pulp and fiber output. However after a couple of months it started to struggle. No matter how small I cut the fruit, no matter how slowly I feed it, it just keeps getting clogged. As you can see in my pictures, most of the pulp remains inside the juicer, clogging it. The output shown is from one whole pineapple. The pulp shown is after clearing it twice before. I had to take it apart three times to clear the chute and basket. And it doesn’t matter what you put in. Carrots, ginger, hard or soft, it just can’t get the job done. I had really high hopes for this as it was a New York Times Wirecutter recommendation. But it isn’t worth the price or the hype.
