Sophie's World : The Greek Philosophers

I didn't expect a "mini-book" when I ordered Sophie's World! It is only 60 pages and is TINY... 4" x 5"! NOT a book for my upcoming 9th grader! Buyer beware... make sure you know what you are getting before you order! Maybe this was my fault. There are apparently 2 books by the same author, too, which makes it confusing. Hate to have spent $5 on something a "book" as small as a pamphlet, however, it would not be worth it to send it back!

The Sophie's is an interesting look on the Philosophic thinkers of philosophers of the past, up to current. I took philosophy years ago and had some daunting questions that needed been clarified or broken down further, given that de'kant, arristotle, et al.. left the daunting question of man in the state of nature per se (any given), it needed further breaking down, and the sophie's could not be as more clear in its definition of man in the state of nature per se ( any given). an understanding.

I did not read the description and read the title of the book, and since it was a similar price to Sophies World: A novel to the history of philosophy witch is also written by the same author. The description is so misleading they should be forced to change it and reimburse all of us they ripped off. My brother who needed this book for school will be missing assignments and such because of you thanks a lot. The other book is 2 bucks more if you get free shipping. It won't be worth my time or money to return this little paper weight so I hope this review saves someone else from the time and suffering I had to go through.

Sophies World is inscribed in my brain. Two years ago , I finished the book while teaching 6 th graders. My friend loaned the book to me and I disliked sending it back to her for fear I would not have it for references. This year I am teaching History to High school and middle school. During our lesson on the Greeks; Sophies World came to mind. I tried to buy 5 copies for my friends. This is still my intent. I would wish my students to read the story. It makes a fantastic outloud read as well.This book is great . Buy it.

This contains not even full chapters from the book .The only virtue of this book is that it is so small you can stick it in your back pocket. Don’t Buy!

I was quite dissapointed when I recieved this item. It was not actually the book I was expecting but a little miniature version with a breif description of the philosophers in the book. Would I have know this I would not have bought it and paid to have it posted to the other side of the world, this was not mentioned in item description. The only thing it said was something about not looking attractive on the bookcase. Now I know what they meant as it is not a book, more like a pamphlet with a cover.

I made the mistake of thinking this was the actual book but its not. its just like a very small book about the book basically. its like 5 inches tall. was very disappointed when I realized it wasn't really the book, but I did end up ordering it and its marvelous. best book ive ever read.

It was a good and simply written book. Much better than having to read the think version of Sophie's World

What I would like to have is a whole book. But this is only an abridged edition. When I bought it, there was no sign to say that it was an abridged edition.

I though this was the original book! I was very very disappointed to find a mini booklet which is far from what I was expecting to get! I am really angry I paid 6 Euros for this...

ONe would think this is the famous book with the same title and from the same author... think again
