Purchased for classroom
These handy little items are great for allowing students to interact with lessons in ways that go beyond PowerPoint presentations. What's even better, the virus replica is made of pretty strong stuff; strong enough, at least, to withstand the occasional freshman male who prefers to toss it around the room rather than hand it off. Overall, this is a nifty item that enhances lessons and serves as a mnemonic device.

Parts do not fit together well
This little virus model is nice for demonstrating viral structure to students. It also looks nice on a shelf as a decoration. The capsid and the nucleic acid core don't fit together well because the core is too large. Also the two parts of the capsid have prongs that do not line up so its impossible to close.

Great model for students
I ordered this for my Biology classroom. It contains a card explaining the components. It is slightly small but it still effective. It is really sturdy. I love the stand that comes with it so I can display in my classroom.

I wish it was sturdier though
Pros: 1. You can take it apart 2. I like the fact that it has glycoproteins sticking out of the lipid membrane 3. You can access the capsid and genome. 4. It's a 4D model Cons: 1. Flimsy and falls part easily. 2. The glycoproteins fall off and get lost. 3. It's difficult to put back together again. I still use it as a teaching tool although it's flimsy. It gets the point across. Great idea, bad execution.

Cheap piece of crap!
I purchased this for a 5 to 7 minute demonstration on vectors for my class. When I received it, I opened the box and found that some of the pieces fell apart on the outside of the membrane. Piecing the model together was more than frustrating, it just wouldn't stay together. It came with a stand, but had no way of placing it on the stand. It was a waste of my money! I wish I could give this a negative 5 stars; that's how disappointed I was with this product! Never again!

Exactly what I needed. I have used this to demonstrate what a virus does and looks like to my grade 7 class.
