Loving the Flowtron Bug Zapper! Have had Black Flag zappers for 4-5 years, the things constantly need cleaning. Can't help but imagine how effective they could be, if they weren't eternally full of bugs. Therefore upon seeing the grill in the Flowtron, I immediately realized, this one won't plug up!! And, much as I suspected, it doesn't. Have had a beetle or two fly into it and get stuck, but overall, it's working exceptionally well, without constant maintenance like my previous zapper. Fantastic job Fowtron.

I am quite pleased! Sure, after a month there's still mosquitos and black flies flying about but holy what a difference. We can actually go outside onto the yard without spraying down first. And there is something oddly satisfying when you are out in the tent and here the *CRACK* of a big one. I expect it'll take a while for the overall population to go down but its making a huge difference and zaps something about once a second all night long; Which the sparrows have discovered and will perch on the side to big cooked bugs off! I keep trying to get a pic but they fly off faster than I can get my camera phone out. Oh, and a little handheld air compressor works great at cleaning the dead bugs off (Which after 2 days in my yard the light is totally obscured by carcasses).

I live in Florida in a wooded area next to a marsh. We have mosquitos and no-see-ums, flying ants, and other bugs. The flying ants seem to be attracted by light. They are small enough to get through the window screens and any small openings around the doors or windows. They come in June and have invaded my house from time to time. It is now 2024. Back in 2018, I bought the very large 2-acre coverage Flowtron Bug Zapper. I hope that by keeping the house dark and having a very bright light away from the house, the ants would stay away. It worked. I have had no flying ant problems since installing the bug zapper. There seem to be fewer mosquitos too. In 2018, I set up the 2-acre bug zapper on the porch of a shed. The shed had a small overhanging roof. I attached it to a light sensor that turned on the light at dusk and turned it off at dawn. It ran every night from June 2018 to Fall 2023, surviving a hurricane, many heavy Florida thunderstorms, and the daily heat & humidity of Florida. There are not as many bugs in the winter, so I did not replace it until May. This time I choose the smaller 1-acre zapper. When I plugged it in, it didn't work. I finally figured out that the dusk/dawn sensor was broken. I replaced that and found out that the 2-acre zapper was also still working. So now both are up and running. The bad side is that these zappers needlessly kill a lot of moths / The good side is the zapped bugs fall on the deck, and each morning at sunrise, birds come and eat BBQ bugs. / If I were to do this again, I would buy two 1-acre zappers instead of the one 2-acre bug zapper.

We bought the 1 acre and half acre versions. Both have done a great job of managing the mosquito population in our yard and the adjacent neighbours' yards. The major advantage of the 1 acre version is that it will vaporize nearly everything that reaches it. This results in absolutely no need to clean it. The half acre version needs a few taps every day to remove a lot of bugs stuck to the grid. Keep in mind that they are not quiet - especially when turning a large moth into a strange smelling cloud of smoke.

As soon as it was plugged in it started killing any insect that came near it. The photo is after the first night so you can see it was doing its job. There are a collection of dead bugs that stick to the grate surrounding the bulbs but they are easily blown off. It seems to be doing what we bought it to do.
