I got the 11" and I'm on day 5 of using it. I've been turning juniper tree branches. First bad things: Beware on the start up speed. It was cranked all the way up and ruined one of the rounded holders and bent the hell out of it. Now I've been using it, I haven't gone past the second speed. The tool they give you is good for messing around. Just go ahead and buy a basic set of wood turning tools to make things go faster. The tool slide holder sucks to tighten the machine screw under the wood you're working with. I already broke 2 out of 4 feet. I ended up screwing the thing to the patio rail. The good things: For the price and size, this thing is bad ass. Worth the money. I'm doing a chess set and it powered right through. Beginner friendly, but it's a power tool so be careful. Variable speed control is awesome and needed. Super easy to setup and get going. Things to watch out for: If it's off center even a little bit, be careful. I have a hole in my wall from it. Check the speed control before turning on. This mini lathe is really meant for square turning, but I never follow rules. Spin the set screws before you turn it on to make sure they clear the base. I already snapped one.

I was able to turn a few wooden pens on it but Within a few days of use the tail stock burnt out and the motor started to fail. Not sure what this might be good for, maybe I got a lemon. This might make a good lathe for making chess pieces from a soft wood but won’t hold up to serious hobby level regular use. I returned it and bought a WEN bench lathe from Amazon for about twice the price and 100 times better quality, durability and capability, no comparison at all. This product is a beginner’s tool/toy good for teaching a child the basics but is NOT a high quality tool. I was able to make the pens in the photo before it died.

If you are looking for a budget lathe and see this one. Don't. This is borderline a children's toy. It feels like it is made from sheet metal, and it vibrates so much that mixed with the lightweight of the material does not work and makes you have to clamp the entire thing down and then you have more stuff in your way. It works which is kind of a miracle but because it's made with cheaper material it does not spin fast enough for you to be able to use it properly and make smooth products with wood. Not worth it, if you really need a lathe, you should look at a more expensive one just to get away from the headache.
