EASY TO SET UP! INTERGRATES WITH MANY SYSTEMS
THE BEST! I am not a person who likes technology. I'm 50, I still can't use my tv remote- yes, I'm that person. Thanks to ST I installed a whole home surveillance and automation system in minutes! I connected ST multi-purpose sensors, 5 Wyze cameras, a Eufy outdoor cam, motion sensors, smart lights, multiple echo dots, smart locks, a smart thermostat and other google home tech. ST makes it so EASY to integrate EVERYTHING! It's impossible to fail. I was worried all the smart tech would weaken my Wifi but it's been over a month and everything is perfect. I control my whole home from my phone (I also rigged a couple of Kindle Fire pads framed on the wall as smart pad controls on both levels ). There are no monthly fees and I spent 1/10th of what it would have cost to hire someone. I can't tell you the peace of mind I have. When I'm at work and amazon leaves a package, I know immediately and can talk to the delivery person through the camera speakers. I heard a weird noise the other night and I could immediately check my night vision cameras. If someone opens a door I know immediately. The multi purpose sensors monitor noise, fire, water and vibration if someone breaks a window. I even talk to my dog through the speakers when I'm at work. EASY to use, GREAT features, GREAT integration, VERY EASY to add new components.

Easy to install, integrate and works perfectly!
I purchased this device to sense when my garage door is open or closed. On several occasions we discovered that our garage door was open all night. It is rare but just once puts us at risk for someone to enter the house or garage at their leisure. A very scary proposition. I thought I closed the door but I did not wait to see it come to a halt and the interference sensor reopened the door when it closed on a towel I was using to dry my car. I purchased the multipurpose sensor that day. Installation is quite simple; the sensor sticks to the door with double sided tape. Within the SmartThings app you use setup to set the device as a garage door sensor and then create an automation to turn on a specific light (a LifX bulb in my case) when the door has just opened or closed. I can also ask Alexa if the door is closed and it will respond with, "The Garage Door is open", or "The Garage Door is closed" based on the doors current state. Using IFTTT I added a feature to flash the LifX bulb at 9:00 PM to show us if the door is open or closed. Red for open, green for closed in my case. A wonderful sensor that is easy to integrate and does exactly what it is supposed to do. Buy several! It has additional functionality, but this is how I used mine.

Disappointed
Automations can check contact sensor, temperature, vibration sensor, and battery level. They can't check tilt except by overriding the contact sensor (using the "Use on garage door" setting in the Smart Things app) which reports only open or closed. The magnet is very strong, so the gap between the magnet and sensor can be an inch. The vibration detector works, but it's not very sensitive and there is no adjustment. It may be just right for most applications. I have not yet made practical use of this feature. The tilt sensor reports the angle from vertical for three axis, but not with any precision and not in degrees. Horizontal is 0 and vertical is roughly 1000, or -1000 if upside down, but may report over 2000 when shaken. Furthermore, the position is not polled on regular intervals. It is only reported for a few seconds after the sensor detects vibration. All of that is irrelevant because I can find no way for an automation to read the tilt sensors' positions. (If you know how, please comment.) The only use for the tilt sensors is via the "Use on garage door" setting in the Smart Things app. When the "Use on garage door" setting is turned on, the sensor reports OPEN only after the sensor reaches a fully horizontal position, and reports CLOSED only after the sensor returns to the fully vertical position. Thus the same position of the sensor may be reported two different ways depending on it's prior position. Furthermore, because the sensor only reports a change in it's position when vibration is detected, if the sensor is moved slowly and smoothly it will not report a change, even if turned 90 or 180 degrees. Because the sensor does most of what people want reasonably well, I have only deducted one star. However, I am very disappointed that there is no way to detect any position other than vertical or horizontal, and that even those are not reported if the change doesn't happen rapidlly.

These are great!
I bought 2 of these. They paired easily with the SmartThings Hub. I have one on my back door, and one on my garage door. The two-sided tape on the main unit works great, but not on the magnet. On the one on the back door, the magnet kept pulling off of the door frame and attaching to the main unit. I used command strips, and the same thing happened. I had to turn the magnet with the flat side facing/attached to the door frame using a command strip to stop the magnet from attaching itself to the main unit. It works perfect in this orientation. Also, I've already had to replace the battery in the one on the back door. I noticed on the second day that the battery dropped to 88%. Two days later, the sensor went offline. It turned out the be the battery. I checked the log in the SmartThings app, and could see the progression of the battery dropping, and after 20% it just died. I've replaced the battery, and everything seems good now. Great product! Works as advertised. Just watch the magnet and the included battery. EDIT: Please separate these items, so that each can be commented on.

This device comes in a nice package and set up was a breeze. Pull the tab, open smartthing (My home >> + Add a thing) and boom. In less then a minute this was up and running. I have three of these and they are working flawlessly. The vibration frature is really sensitive so even honks/engine noises. It went off when I shovelled my front porch. I have a handful of zigbee and z-wave devices in my house and this device is fully worth the money. They are buoy rock solid and the sensor reading is really fast. The Temperature sensor seems to be accurate as well. I like the fact that you can distance between the two devices so you can get a better reading of open/close. My garage has a smartlock and the door would often half close so the dead bolt would never close. Now I have this device set up in a way where if its 2mm open it would considered "open" and notifications would come my way to let me know the door isn't fully closed.

El sensor es bueno y cumple al 100% lo que promete, lo fuerte de estos dispositivos es cuando los juntas en la plataforma de smartthings.

I use them with Hubitat and they work well and report all built-in sensors. Some came with batteries almost dead, not a big deal as these CR2450 batteries are not expansive, but they may have been on a shelf for a long time would buy again

If This Then That is the core concept of these devices. Rube Goldberg your life, from doors that open signaling your lights to do a "flash" if the door receives a vibration "ie knocking" making it easier to "hear" your front door when using headphones add a color into these flashes to specify what signal your lights are giving you White blue white is my setting for front door, and white red white is my back door, ect, have its temp sensors better regulate your smart thermostat, or use it as a redundancy for a heat sensor not just a smoke detector in places susceptible to fire. Place it on a phone to have it trigger light based notifications for those with hearing difficulties the list of possibilities is endless for real world useful applications, most of the clients i consult for have smart home systems with a few of these sensors spread around performing quality of life upgrades, remember voice assistants are just that assistants; and while they may seem smart, adding a "brain" to your smart home like the samsung smart things hub and a few sensors will make your smart house smarter after all the saying goes "work smarter not harder."
