Filipino Friends [Romulo, Liana, Dandan-Albano, Corazon] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Filipino Friends Review: Book for all ages - Perfect for kids and adults to learn basic filipino words. Good quality with lots of pictures. Review: Excellent book for children of Filipino parents or grandparents - I gave this book a 5-star rating because it is an excellent book in teaching children about the Philippines, especially children who have Filipino parents or grandparents. When I gave this to my grandchildren, they quickly learned the Filipino translations and when I sang Bahay Kubo towards the end of the book, my 5-year old granddaughter quickly memorized the whole song while her 9-year old brother was able to play the music in his toy flute. Also, even if they have never visited the Philippines, the book describes Filipino life, so not only do they learn the translations of words, but also Filipino lifestyle. This book is better at teaching Tagalog than flash cards or a dictionary because of the illustrations that make the words more real and interesting. It also becomes a source of conversation which enhances the child-parent/grandparent experience.

Great for sharing Filipino heritage
This is an outstanding book. Bought it for my preschooler who shared it w their class. The school is Jewish and my child is from a blended family and this book helped the mostly Jewish heritage understand my child's (blended w) Filipino heritage. Easy to follow. Beautifully illustrated. Relatable story. Kid engagement.

Good for all ages! Filled with culture and language.
My two kids love this book! They are half Filipino and half Vietnamese. I wanted to be sure they get good exposure to both cultures. It's the first book my almost 2 year old grabs at bedtime. My 4 year old loves it too- he can count in Tagalog and learns how to say aunt, uncle, grandma, etc in Tagalog. They both learn the "Mano po" custom which has been minimally used or lost in my generation (I'm American born Filipino). I plan to order more for friends and family. I agree with other reviewers- it's good for all ages!

... would be upuan or salumpuwet) but this is a nice book to have so younger children can be exposed ...
There are some words that I am not sure are accurate (such as chair - I was raised that it would be upuan or salumpuwet) but this is a nice book to have so younger children can be exposed to FIlipino culture. I like that it not only shows Filipino words, but also talks about customs and traditions. My son is not old enough to understand the story or pictures yet, but he does like looking at the colorful pages. I wish there was a simpler, board book version of this.

Educational for kids and adults trying to learn more about Filipino culture
Such a cute book! I bought it for my godson for his birthday. Before giving it to him, I read through the book and was very pleasantly entertained myself. I was born in the Philippines and moved here at a young age. It was almost nostalgic reading through the different aspects of the culture (family, play time, food, etc.) discussed in this book. My boyfriend isn't Filipino so I showed it to him and he said it might even be a good introductory book to the Filipino culture for adults! Overall, very satisfied with the content, text and pictures in the book.

My son is 2 and just learning some Tagalog so this has been a good one for him. He can recognize things that he knows in English and we practice memorizing the Tagalog translations, and so far it has been good for him.
