While you do not need a box spring between the frame and the mattress, if you don't have one you're going to bend the supports and ruin the bed. I got the 6" high for my son to use and had to buy a 2X6 to support the middle of the frame. I cut it to run the length of the bed straight down the middle so that when he laid down he wasn't bending everything. The supports for the mattress are hollow, not solid, and do NOT easily lock into the frame. We have had to lift the mattress to reseat the supports into their slots, because sitting on the edge of the bed makes them lift out of the other side, I have to ziptie them into place to get them to STAY in the slots on the frame. It is size accurate, it is easy to assemble, but everything else is a lie. This product has been a nightmare since we put it together. I am only keeping this because I do not trust that I would get a replacement or substitute that would be as advertised, and I've already fixed everything wrong with it

Easy to fold in if you want to put into storage. The bed is sturdy and I like the rounded corners.
